I want to preface the story with a few notes.<br />

* This is my first time writing something of this magnitude and I chose to start writing this five days ago. My experience in writing has usually character backstories. If you have suggestions to make my writing better. Please, feel free to let me know, in reply or by message.<br />
* Please bear with the first bit of the story. It is a stylistic choice to show sedation.<br />
* This is a slow burn and this sets up some plot for the further chapters. If you really want to skip it for the "plot", search for "Lucky you both are still in pajamas"<br />

There is a shining figure.<br />

It is hard to focus.<br />

''Hello there my child<br />

Do not be afraid<br />

You are safe now<br />

You have died but do not fret<br />

In a moment you will wake up in other bodies<br />

So that you may never be alone as you were in the last<br />

Finally pieces of your past may bubble up<br />

This feels... familiar. The warmth. The heartbeat. Movement. But so… tired…. Hard to… stay… awake….<br />



Again. Still here. Feeling. It stayed this time. More this time. Feel.. pain? Legs. Arms.<br />

Something touching me.<br />

Opening eyes. Hard. Just a bit. All I can manage.<br />

Something touching is another human. Young. Blonde<br />

Something watching. Stern man. Gray hair. Hands behind his back. Studying me. There seems to be another as well. Shorter. Brown hair. Glasses. Clipboard. Thin white coat. Mouth moving.<br />

Sound. I can hear sound. From the one with the mouth moving. Try to listen… Muffled…<br />

“…don't know how it happened sir…… unknown if performance will be affected……. should know when they're complete in 10 weeks……can always dispose of…” Performance? 10 weeks? Dispose?<br />

The stern man speaks. “Increase the sedation”<br />

Other one “Yes sir!”<br />

Stern man still watching. Looking at me.<br />

Suddenly sleepy….<br />



Wiiiouuu! Wiiiouuu! Wiiiouuu!<br />

Loud alarm. Shouting. “…ecure the clones!” Shots. Grunts. Thunk! Silence. Door closes.<br />

“…finitely some resemblance…”<br />

“…hat should we… can't just leave them…"<br />

“…ays here… hybrid between Batman and…. who's Michael?”<br />

“…ease them. We're leaving. Make sure to get a copy of the data.”<br />

“Right!”<br />

More noises. Moving. Down. Feel cold. Warmth from other human.<br />

“Aww, they're so cute!”<br />

“Make sure you cut the umbilicals”<br />

“Hood, you carry one. I'll get the other.”<br />

Picked up. Close. Secure. Warm.<br />

“Congrats on the twin boys you two. You'll make great fathers.”<br />

“Shut up Red!”<br />

"Let's get moving"<br />

Moving again. Fast. Sounds. Grunts. Fighting? Silence. Still moving.<br />

Whirring motor. Jet? Put down.<br />

Sleepy again…<br />



''“Who is that? A child? I don't remember falling asleep next to a boy. I think I'd remember doing something like that…”''<br />

My consciousness stirs awake, some voice in my mind. Opening my eyes I find a young boy with ear top length blonde hair staring intently at me. “Did you say something?” I say to him.<br />

“No.”<br />

''Could've sworn I heard him ask who I was. ''I think to myself.<br />

''“He just said something but his mouth didn't move?! Did he read my mind?” ''I hear in my mind.<br />

We stare intently at each other for a moment. Each trying hard to not think about anything for fear of it being heard by the other.<br />

''So if we can hear each other's thoughts, does that mean we'll never have another private thought again?''<br />

He smiles and laughs.<br />

''Is something funny?<br />

“Kinda. I think it's funny you didn't even question the fact that you COULD read another person's thoughts other than your own.”<br />

I'm lying next to a young boy I've never met before, in a bed covered in silk sheets, in an stately room, dressed in monogrammed silk pajamas, after I vaguely remember dying and then spending some time really sleepy in what appeared to be a lab. You think I would be surprised by someone speaking to my mind at this point?<br />

“That's true. And you're a young boy too, ya know” ''He stops smiling and sits upright against the headboard.'' “Wait you said you died? I think that happened to me too.”<br />

Interesting, we both remember dying… WAIT, what did you say? ''I hold up my hand at eye level. My eyes go wide. ''They're small''. I search for a mirror. There's one across the room next to a wardrobe. I leave the soft and warm comfort of the covers, placing my feet on the carpet below. When I attempt to make my first step, my legs fail me and I tumble to the ground with a thunk! “OW!” I yell. I curl up in a ball to help alleviate the pain.<br />

''“Are you alright?”<br />

No, it hurts. I don't think I can walk. I guess these bodies don't quite have the muscle memory to walk yet.''<br />

Just then, the bedroom door clicks open.<br />

''“Is that…?”''<br />

Huh? Who?<br />

My questions were answered as an old gentleman appeared in my view wearing a classic butler uniform, gray hair balding in the corners of his forehead.<br />

''Alfred Pennyworth.''<br />

“Greetings young masters, I am Alfred Pennyworth. It seems you have both awakened. And one of you seems to have fallen in an attempt at exploration. Let me help you back into bed.”<br />

He steps towards me, bends down, and princess carries me in his arms. He turns toward the bed and places me down, returning upright with his hands behind his back.<br />

“Now, I believe Master Bruce wanted to see you both when you awakened. I wouldn't advise any further attempts at exploration. I doubt your bodies are accustomed to walking yet.” He said, ending his statement with a look at me.<br />

We nod in unison.<br />

“Wonderful, I shall be back with Master Bruce.”<br />

We watch as the butler leaves the room, the door clicking closed.<br />

I sit myself upright, resting against the headboard. Mirroring my brother.<br />

''“Alfred Pennyworth. Master Bruce. We must be in the DC Universe.”<br />

That's what I thought too. But why Bruce Wayne? Why are we in Wayne Manor? And another thing. It seems we've only been sharing our internal voice. Can we share more?<br />

“Awake for five minutes and already exploring the limits of your abilities? Shouldn't we worry about learning to walk first”''<br />

I take a deep breath and sigh. ''You're right, but can't we do both? I think with a smirk.<br />

“Maybe?”'' He pauses and looks to be thinking intensely. ''“I'm trying, is it working?”''<br />

I calm my mind and focus on my breathing. Nothing happened at first, but slowly, my mind was draw to a particular thought. ''Apples?<br />

“Yeah! That took way too long though. We'll definitely need practice."<br />

Yeah, you could've just said apples and it would've been faster.<br />

“You're the one who wanted to try!” ''He pouts for a moment.'' "Hey, do you remember your name?" Ya know, before you died?"<br />

Do I? ''I try to recall. ''Nothing's coming to mind. I think we should just pick something we like.<br />

“I call Oliver!”<br />

Hey! I wanted that name!''<br />

He sticks his tongue and blows a raspberry!<br />

''I'll go by Aiden then.<br />

“Oooooo, that's a good name.”''<br />

I cross my arms and look smug. ''Too bad you already chose yours!''<br />

We heard the door click again and see a series of men walk in. A tall, athletic man with short dark hair, followed by a younger man with a similar build and parted, messy dark hair. Alfred follows in the rear and closes the door behind them. They stand near the foot of the bed. Alfred stands near the door.<br />

''Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson.''<br />

Bruce speaks up. “Hello boys, welcome to Wayne Manor. I'm Bruce Wayne and this is my adopted son Dick. Some friends of ours rescued you from some a lab and put you both in my care for the time being.”<br />

I slightly turn my head and look at my brother out of the corner of my eye. ''He means Batman and friends.''<br />

He giggles back in his mind.<br />

“With that said, my friends wanted me to ask you both some questions. Is that alright with you both?”<br />

We both nod.<br />

“Great! First things first, do you both have names?"<br />

My brother speaks first. “I'm Oliver.”<br />

“I'm Aiden.”<br />

Bruce smiles. “Great names, did you come up with those yourselves?”<br />

We nod.<br />

“I see. Do you know where we are right now?”<br />

My brother answers. “Wayne Manor?”<br />

“Do you know where Wayne Manor is located?”<br />

“Gotham City." I say.<br />

“Good. Do you know who Superman is?”<br />

“A superhero that's part of the Justice league!” Oliver says.<br />

“He's able to fly, has heat vision, has superhuman strength, enhanced hearing, enhanced eyesig-”<br />

“Okay, okay. I get the picture.” Bruce chuckles. “What about me? Do you know who I am?”<br />

My brother speaks first again. “Eccentric billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne.”<br />

“Majority share owner of Wayne Enterprises, a company with many facets including medical, electronics, chemicals, and technology to name a few.”<br />

“That was almost textbook, I'm impressed.”<br />

My brother slightly turns to me. “Why is he asking all these random questions?”<br />

I do the same. ''I think he's both assessing our knowledge and intelligence. After all we both look like children.''<br />

Out of my periphery, I notice Dick slightly shift his head forward.<br />

Bruce continues. “Onto the next question. Do you kn-” Dick interrupts. “Hold on for a moment Bruce. Are you both sharing a telepathic conversation?”<br />

My eyes go wide and I look to my brother. He's doing the same. Speechless.<br />

Bruce strokes his chin. “Interesting.”<br />

Before anyone could inquire more, a racket was heard from the hallway.<br />

“You cannot stop me, Drake! I NEED to talk to father about this. I will not stand for this!”<br />

“Come on Damian. They're having a private conversation!”<br />

Bruce stops and pinches the bridge of his nose. Dick stops himself from laughing.<br />

The door violently opens and a young boy with olive skin, dark hair, and green eyes storms in. Followed by a taller teenage boy with dark hair and blue eyes.<br />

“Father, what is this about you having twins?! What harlot drugged you and had sex with you this time?!"<br />

We both look at each other again, eyes going wide, saying the same thing. ''“TWINS?”<br />

“I guess that makes sense.”<br />

I wondered, but I wasn't able to reach the mirror. I guess I don't need it anymore. I have the only mirror I need next to me.''<br />

We both giggle.<br />

Damian goes silent. “Are they having a telepathic conversation with each other?"<br />

Bruce sighs and speaks up. “Damian, I thought you'd be better than this, but here you are barging into a room demanding an answer.”<br />

“I am sure you were having a riveting conversation with two children father. What is important is whether they are truly blood related. Have you even checked?"<br />

Bruce sighs again. “Yes Damian. The results were inconclusive about most of their DNA, but from the results did recognize, it was mine.”<br />

“Great, more contenders.” Damian clicks his tongue.<br />

Tim breaks the silence. “Just ignore this one, he's just a bit protective about his so-called birthright. Welcome to the family!”<br />

“Tim is right." Bruce says. “We should be welcoming them, not squabbling over blood and birthrights.”<br />

“Besides, it wouldn't be the first time a child came barging into our lives proclaiming he's the son of Bruce Wayne.” Dick chuckles, his arms crossed.<br />

I continue to look between Damian, Tim, and Dick bantering, but out of the corner of the eye, I spot my brother holding his head.<br />

I look over with a concerned look. ''Hey! Oliver! Are you okay?<br />

“No! My head! It hurts! Feels like. My. Head. Is gonna. Explode!”''<br />

I crawl over and put my hands on his shoulders. The moment I do, I'm overwhelmed with pain, but also a stream of images. A man is staring at me looking down into a mass of swirling clouds. Parted blonde hair. Green eyes. Strong jawline.<br />

It seemed as soon as the vision started, it had ended, and Oliver slumped in my arms.<br />

I shook him a bit to try to wake him. “Oliver! Oliver! Wake up!”<br />

At this point, Bruce and Alfred had rushed over. Alfred put his two fingers next to Oliver's jugular just to be sure.<br />

“What happened?” Bruce said, the slightest bit on concern in his voice.<br />

“I.. don't know. His head just started hurting out of nowhere! I put my hand on his shoulders and I saw some sort of vision of a man with blond hair looking down at me!”<br />

“Hmm… Let me make a few calls. I might know someone who can help Alfred can you handle it from here.”<br />

“Of course, sir.”<br />

At this point, Alfred had positioned Oliver laying in the bed.<br />

“He's going to…” I hesitate, “be alright, right?”<br />

“From what it sounds like,” Alfred conjectured, “Master Oliver simply needs some time to rest and he will be back with us in due time. No worries” Alfred smiles.<br />

I nod and try to keep my emotions in check. ''Why am I so emotional? I just met Oliver 5 minutes ago.''<br />

Dick must have seen I was distressed about the whole thing. “Hey.” He puts an arm on my shoulder. “Why don't I show you around the manor? Certainly beats staying here and worrying, right?” He smiles.<br />

I nod. “But I can't really walk…” I say, looking dejected.<br />

Next thing I know, there's a pair of arms lifting me up. “Not a problem! I've always loved giving shoulder rides.”<br />

Dick places me on his shoulders and starts walking out of the room. We end up in a long hallway with the afternoon sun shining through a window at the end.<br />

He starts with the various bedrooms. Pointing out the bedrooms for himself, Damian, Jason, Tim, Stephanie, and Cassandra. Then shows me the library, Bruce's bedroom and study. Finally, the guest bedrooms.<br />

Heading downstairs, Dick shows me the billiards room, the dining room, reception room, living room, followed by the study.<br />

When we reach the study, I notice a familiar looking grandfather clock. ''Must be the entrance to the bat cave.''<br />

Dick notices me staring, “Ah, that old grandfather clock? I think it was a gift to Bruce's father for his philanthropy work. Anyways, let's move on.”<br />

We continue the tour to the downstairs library, followed by the drawing room, the conservatory and the ballroom to name a few. Then we end up in the great hall near the front entrance.<br />

All in all, the tour of Wayne Manor takes over an hour.<br />

“Do you think we could head back to my bedroom? I wanna see if my brother has woken up.”<br />

“Of course!”<br />

Back in the bedroom, I am greeted to the sight of my brother sitting up in bed.<br />

“Oliver! You're awake!”<br />

Dick makes his way over the bed and sets me down. I practically jump on my brother and pull him into a hug. “I was so worried!”<br />

Returning the hug he says, “I'm sorry Aiden, I don't know what happened. One minute I was in so much pain. I saw a vision of a guy with blonde hair. The next minute I'm waking up… Without my brother next to me, mind you. Where'd you go?”<br />

Dick chimes in, “That would be my fault. I took your brother for a tour around the manor.”<br />

“Aww, without me?”<br />

Dick chuckles, “That would've been a bit difficult considering you were unconscious.”<br />

“Right….”<br />

“Anyways, I've let Bruce know you're awake. He might have some more information on what might've happened.”<br />

A voice comes from the door, “That I do.” I turn and see Bruce standing in the doorway. He walks in and stands next to the bed.<br />

“From what I've gathered, you had a reverse-divination. I'm no expert, but it seems someone wanted to know your whereabouts, but you were able to do the same to them. Or at least in this case, gleam their face. But considering your condition, and being no expert in divination yourself, your mind couldn't take it."<br />

“So, we're adding divination to the list, along with telepathy?” Dick asks smiling.<br />

Oliver and I look at each other and laugh. ''“Busted!"'' We both think.<br />

I turn to Bruce. “Why do you know so much about Divination? Didn't you say you were making a few calls? Why does Bruce Wayne someone who knows about Divination on speed dial?”<br />

Without skipping a beat Bruce answers. “Being at a lot of social events can really open up your network to some strange places.” He smiles.<br />

''Darn it. I thought I had him.<br />

“Uh huh, sure.”''<br />

“Anyways boys, I believe Alfred is preparing dinner as we speak. I'm sure he wouldn't mind two extra helpers, but looks like you'll need a ride. Dick, would you mind helping me?”<br />

Bruce takes me in his arms, princess style.<br />

''“Ooooo. Look at you princess.”''<br />

I feel myself blushing a bit.<br />

“Of course." He looks to Oliver. "Your turn for a ride.” He grabs Oliver under his arms and hoists him up over his head.<br />

“This reminds me.” Bruce says. “I think we'll need to start you both on physical therapy. Not that I don't enjoy carrying kids around, never really had the chance when this one was younger. But I'm sure you'd both rather become more independent rather than have someone carry you around everywhere."<br />

“Yeah. I don't mind though.” I say, looking up at Bruce.<br />

“Great, let's head down.” Bruce says. He starts walking towards the door of the bedroom.<br />

We travel through the halls of Wayne Manor, on down, and eventually ending up in the kitchen. Where, sure enough, Alfred was starting dinner.<br />

“Good afternoon, Master Bruce, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit to the kitchen?”<br />

“Hey Alfred, do you think you could put these two to work? I don't think they've got anything else to do.”<br />

“Certainly, Master Bruce, I would be glad to start these Wayne children on the right path, culinary speaking. I think we have some dull knives somewhere around here. And we have plenty of vegetables to cut for tonight's meal.”<br />

Bruce chuckles nervously. “Cooking was never my strongest skill.” He looks down at me. “Do you think you can stand?”<br />

“I don't know.” I reply.<br />

“Well, only one way to find out.” Bruce moves to set me down on my feet. When my feet touch the ground, my legs look and feel a bit shaky, but look mostly able to support me standing. Though there are a couple of moments my arms rush to the island to help stabilize.<br />

“Great! Nice job Aiden.” I feel myself grinning ear to ear at the praise.<br />

Behind Bruce, Dick moves to set Oliver down, the small crowd watching in anticipation. His feet reach the floor and much like me he's able to support his weight with the help something solid to stabilize.<br />

Alfred walks over with the couple of knives and cutting boards and sets them down on the kitchen island. In doing so he took a look at our heights relative to the island. “Young masters, I do believe you will be in need of a height adjustment. Let me find you some stools to stand on.”<br />

Alfred comes back with a pair of multi-step stools and opens them in front of the island.<br />

“Thanks Alfred, we'll be back for dinner!” Bruce and Dick leave the room with a wave.<br />

“What are we making Alfred?” Oliver asks.<br />

“We will be preparing a roasted chicken and vegetable medley. You'll be helping cut the vegetables." He goes and fetches a large basket with assorted vegetables. “Let me show you how to cut them.”<br />

He positions himself between the two of us and proceeds to give an example of how to cut each vegetable and then leaves us to our own devices while he works on the chickens.<br />

Cutting the various vegetables should've been easy, but given our bodies have little to no muscle memory, cutting the vegetables was proving difficult.<br />

''“I feel stupid.”'' My brother sends. ''“I'm fairly certain I was a grown adult in my past life. So why can't I just cut these stupid vegetables!”''<br />

I look over and he has an aggravated face. ''You look so cute when you're mad!'' I think, a smile on my face. He looks over and sticks his tongue out at me and then smiles as well. ''If it makes you feel any better, I'm not fairing much better.''<br />

After a while, we begin to get the hang of it, and cutting the vegetables becomes easier. To the point that I start to cut them fast and efficiently.<br />

''This feels weird. Do you feel you're unnaturally getting the hand of cutting the vegetables, even with a dull knife?<br />

“Yeah, I'm almost scary good at cutting vegetables now.”''<br />

A voice of a woman comes from outside kitchen entrance. “Hey Alfred. Need any- Oh MY GOSH! Are these famed twins that have been the talk of the manor?” A young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes walks in the kitchen and over to us. Behind her, another young woman walks in. She has black hair and green eyes.<br />

“Ahh, you're both so CUTE!” The blonde haired one comes up behind Oliver and gives him a hug. “I'm Steph. You must be Aiden," she looks at Oliver, “and Oliver, right?” She looks at me.<br />

“I'm Aiden.” I say.<br />

My brother pipes up. “And I'm Oliver”<br />

“Oops, my bad. Classic twin problem. I'll get it eventually, I promise.” She laughs.<br />

“I'm Cass.” She comes over behind me and ruffles my hair.<br />

“Well Alfred, I can see you already have two great helpers. Do you need two more?” Steph asks, looking to Alfred.<br />

“Miss Stephanie, you and Miss Cassandra are always welcome to help. Perhaps you can assist the boys by seasoning the vegetables.”<br />

The girls take the veggies that have already been cut, season them and then hand them over to Alfred for roasting.<br />

“Welp. That was easier than expected. I guess I'll go meditate. You down, Cass?”<br />

“Yeah, I could go for a bit of meditation.” Cass replies.<br />

“Boys?” Steph looks between the two of us.<br />

We both look towards the ground.<br />

“Oh right. I forgot I heard you both can't really walk. Sorry!” She moves to pick me up.<br />

I speak up. “Sorry, it's a recurring issue…”<br />

Cass opts for a piggyback ride, while Steph picks me up and holds me to her chest, akin to holding a baby. I end up wrapping my arms and legs around her. I blush hard.<br />

Oliver notices my situation and smirks. ''“Why do you always get so lucky?”''<br />

We head off to the exercise room.<br />

There, we're set down. Steph sets out some yoga mats and starts to explain the basics of meditation. Then she leaves us both to give it a try.<br />

''“I feel like this might be a good chance to practice mastering our telepathy.”<br />

That's a great idea! I think we should start with the basics. Getting a feel for the link itself.''<br />

Under the guise of meditation, Oliver and I practice the use of our telepathic link with each other.<br />

First with the link itself, feeling out the connection in our minds, noticing something akin to a string.<br />

Next, we focused on things other than our inner voices, we both choose a series of objects to think about and then one by one think about them in order. It feels similar to calibration, but for the string.<br />

Finally, we take turns sending an object and having the other guess.<br />

The next thing we knew, Tim popped in the room and told us dinner was ready.<br />

We were once again picked up and went on our way to the dining room. On the way, Steph asked, “So how did you enjoy meditation? When I looked over, you both looked like you were seriously in the zone.”<br />

“We umm..” “We…” Oliver and I stammer.<br />

“You weren't working on some sort power, were you?” Steph narrows her eyes.<br />

We both look at each other, not saying anything.<br />

Cass speaks up, “I can tell you're both hiding something. Come on, you can tell us. We won't tell!” She smiles.<br />

''Can we trust them?'' I look at Oliver, seriously.<br />

''“I feel like we're going to have to trust everyone here eventually with our secrets, just like hopefully they'll eventually trust us with theirs.”'' He smiles.<br />

Steph and Cass continue to eye us, when I speak up. “We were… training our telepathic link with each other…”<br />

“Ah that explains the looks you both just gave each other.” Cass says.<br />

“Did you have fun?” Steph asks.<br />

We both look at each other and nod, grinning wide.<br />

“Great! That's good to hear!”<br />

At that point, we're right outside the dining room. Entering, we found everyone standing around the dining room table. Bruce at one head, Alfred at the other. Dick, Barbara, Kate, Jason, and Damian on one side. Tim, Cass, Steph, me, and Oliver on the other.<br />

Bruce notices us and says, “There they are. Aiden and Oliver. I want you to meet Barbara Gordon and Kate Kane. Kate is my cousin and Barbara is the daughter of Jim Gordon."<br />

Dick looks at Babs. “And my wife!”<br />

Everyone starts to sit down at the table.<br />

“Nice to meet you both. Always glad to have more family.” Kate says.<br />

Babs chimes in. “Nice to meet you.”<br />

Alfred speaks up. “Now that we have everyone here. Tonight, we have a Roasted Chicken and Vegetable Medley along with a Quinoa Salad. Masters Aiden and Oliver helped with the vegetables, as did Miss Stephanie and Miss Cassandra.”<br />

With that, everyone starts eating. Compliments are paid towards Alfred, along with Oliver and I, Steph and Cass.<br />

Eventually, discussion opens up among the table. Bruce asks Damian and Tim how school was. Alfred asks Bruce about a philanthropic event coming up.<br />

Barbara then directs her attention to Oliver and I. “Oliver, Aiden, how are you two adjusting to life here?”<br />

Oliver looks over to me and then back to Barbara. “It's been a bit embarrassing having to rely on everyone to get around, but I think our first day here has been great!” He smiles, looking towards me.<br />

“I'd say the same and add that besides the mishap with my brother going unconscious, I love it here. I wouldn't trade it for the world!”<br />

Barbara looks surprised. “Wait, you mean you've been carried around all day? Did none of you think to give them wheelchairs?”<br />

Everyone goes silent, then starts to make up reasons against her claim.<br />

Damian slams a fist down on the table. “I have a question. Do either of you remember anything from your time in the lab?”<br />

Bruce interjects. “Damian!”<br />

“Excuse me father, but I have to know. It is highly suspicious. Two twin boys born in a lab for some unknown reason?"<br />

“Damian! That's enough! Go to your room, I'll have a chat with you after we've cleaned up here.”<br />

Damian grumbles and complies, leaving the table, but stares daggers at us as he leaves the room.<br />

Steph places her hand on my shoulder to comfort me. “Hey, don't let him get to you. He's just very trusting at first, he'll come around in time.”<br />

Alfred speaks up. “Well with that confrontation out of the way, let's cleanup the table, shall we?”<br />

Everyone nods in agreement. Barbara whispers something to Dick. Dick nods and heads off out of the room. Everyone else starts cleaning up the table.<br />

My brother turned towards me. ''“Why do you think Damian hates us so much?"<br />

I think he's just a bit to protective of the family and doesn't want to admit he has two new cute brothers to contend with.'' I think, smiling.<br />

''“Yeah, I guess from his perspective, we're just barging in here from some lab. I don't even know myself what these bodies were made for."''<br />

After a few minutes, Dick returns to the dining room with two folded wheelchairs.<br />

“Sorry it took me so long to find them. They don't get much use.” He says, rubbing the back of his neck.<br />

Barbara wheels over. “That should be much better. Now you'll have free reign of the manor. For the most part." She comes in close and whispers. “I wouldn't recommend going into Jason or Damians rooms. They might kill you. Damian especially, after that outburst earlier.”<br />

We nod profusely.<br />

“Good boys, now give these things a try.” She says, smiling.<br />

Oliver and I stand up from the dining chair and use a combination of the chair and wheelchair to position ourselves in the wheelchairs. After that Barbara shows us the ropes and soon enough, we've gotten the hang of it.<br />

At this point, the table is entirely cleared and Tim comes over. “We're thinking of watching a movie, why don't you both join us."<br />

We follow Tim out of the dining room and over to the movie theater.<br />

“We're watching 'Quantum Riddles' a sci-fi thriller that follows the story of a brilliant but eccentric scientist who discovers a way to manipulate quantum reality.”<br />

Jason notices us at the door and interjects. “Uhh, Tim isn't Quantum Riddles a bit too over their heads?”<br />

My brother pouts. “Hey! What do you think we are, stupid?”<br />

Jason thinks about it for a moment. “In this family? You're right, my bad.” He chuckles.<br />

Looking over the theater, it seemed most of the family would be watching. The only ones missing are Bruce and Damian.<br />

We find our seats and the movie begins. During the movie, my brother and I would give the occasional comment to one another.<br />

“I think Jason was kinda right… Some of this is going over my head…”<br />

I turn to my twin and smile. Don't worry, I'll tell you later.<br />

Soon the film reached its climax and was over soon after that.<br />

Dick turns to Tim and says. “Great pick Tim! I really loved the visual interpretations of the alternate dimensions and the way they played reality.”<br />

Tim comments. “Yeah, I can't say I didn't see the end coming. Kinda obvious.” Which eliciting a groan from most of the room.<br />

Alfred appears beside our seats. “Masters Oliver and Aiden, I believe it is time for you both to retire for the day.”<br />

“Aww, but I'm not…” Oliver yawns. “…tired.”<br />

I yawn. “My body betrays me…”<br />

“Come on now. Upstairs you go.”<br />

Alfred ushers us out of the movie theater and up to our bedroom. “Lucky you both are still in pajamas. We shall have to go out for some suitable tomorrow."<br />

“I have taken the liberty of leaving some toothpaste and toothbrushes on the sink. Other than that, I trust you both are old enough to put yourselves to bed. I shall be back to check on you in a few hours to make sure.” He moves to leave the bedroom. “Good night, young masters.”<br />

I wheel over to the bathroom and steady myself on the sink, my brother following suit. I pick up a toothbrush and toothpaste, smearing the paste on the brush and start brushing.<br />

From the shadows, three figures emerge, two tall, one short. They are all hooded and masked in black. Swords at their sides. The short one speaks with a garbled voice from what appears to be a voice changing device.<br />

“You are awake, perfect. We shall awaken your brother so we can begin.” The short one motions to the figure on their left. The figure steps forward and slaps Oliver.<br />

He awakens startled and looking around. He notices me. ''"Aiden, what's going on? Last thing I remember was falling asleep."<br />

I think we've been kidnapped. Judging by their dress. I'd wager to say it's the League of Assassins. Which means the short one is Damian.<br />

“WHAT?!” ''He goes wide eyed. ''“Why did Damian have us kidnapped?”''<br />

“Ah, telepathy, how cute.” The figure chuckles.<br />

“What do you want from us? A ransom?” I say.<br />

“A ransom, no. What I want is answers.”<br />

He steps toward us. “I will be asking each of you a series of questions and I have a device that will tell me if you are lying or not. So, I would suggest you answer truthfully. Any other questions?"<br />

We remain silent.<br />

The figure points to me. “We will start with you. What is your name?"<br />

“Aiden.” I said, angerly. The device dings.<br />

"When did you arrive at Wayne Manor?<br />

“Yesterday.” The device dings.<br />

“What is your favorite color?”<br />

“Blue.” The device dings.<br />

“Off to a great start.” He points to Oliver. “Your turn. What is your name.”<br />

“Oliver.” He answers. The device dings.<br />

“When did you arrive at Wayne Manor?”<br />

“Yesterday.” The device dings.<br />

“What is your favorite color?”<br />

“Blue.” The device dings.<br />

“Just like twins to like the same color. Next questions are for the both of you: Were you born in a lab?"<br />

“Yes.” We both answer. The device dings.<br />

“Do you know your creator?”<br />

“No.” Both a ding and a beep came from the device.<br />

“Aiden, you lied. I'll ask again. Do you know your creator?”<br />

“No.” I say. The device beeps.<br />

The figure starts to raise his voice. “Aiden, you lied again. Tell me about your creator.”<br />

“I don't know who he is. I only saw glimpses of him while I was half lucid.” The device dings.<br />

The figure grumbles. “You do not sound like someone who came out of a test tube yesterday. Why are you so well spoken?”<br />

“I am the son of Bruce Wayne and knowledge was transmitted to my brain while growing.” The device beeps.<br />

“Arrrgh! Do you think this is a game?!”<br />

“No!” The device beeps.<br />

“Alright, let's raise the stakes then!” The figure takes out a knife and steps towards Oliver.<br />

“What? No! I haven't done anything wrong!” Oliver says, moments away from crying. The device dings.<br />

The figure raises his knife, pointing it towards Oliver. “You have not YET done anything. What are you planning on doing?!”<br />

“Nothing!” The device dings.<br />

“Arrrrgh! Do you have an ability that allows you to conceal yourself from lies?!"<br />

“No!!” The device dings.<br />

“I don't believe you!” He takes the knife and slashes across Oliver's left shoulder.<br />

"Ahhhhhhh!!" Oliver screams. “Aiden, it hurts! Make it stop!”<br />

“Scream all you want, no one will hear you.”<br />

I start pleading. “Please, don't hurt my brother! I'm the real mastermind! I'm the one with all the plans! I'll tell you what you want.” The device beeps.<br />

“OH! So, Oliver here is the real mastermind, and you are the one covering for him!” The figure says pointing the knife at me. “Sounds like we are now on the right track! Next Question!” The figure walks closer to Oliver and places their knife against his cheek. “Is what your brother said true?!”<br />

“Yes…” He says, sobbing. The device beeps.<br />

“Are you toying with me?!” The figure twitches his arm and cuts Oliver's cheek.<br />

Oliver screams louder and starts crying.<br />

“At least now everyone will be able to tell you both apart!” The figure laughs.<br />

“Final question!” He places his knife against Oliver's throat, causing it to bleed slightly.<br />

“PLEASE! I'll do anything you want! Answer any questions! Just please, leave him alone! Leave my brother alone!” I yell as loud as I can, my voice going hoarse.<br />

“Just wait your turn, Aiden. You'll be next. Now-”<br />

“DAMIAN, PLEASE! What did we do to deserve this?! What do you want?! What do you want me to say?!” I start crying. “Just… please… Please!……… Don't kill my brother….. Don't kill him, Damian.”<br />

Damian stops in his tracks and slowly puts the knife down. He walks back next to the two taller figures. “We're leaving.” All three disperse into the shadows. Leaving only the sounds of my brother crying, and my occasional sniffle.<br />

All I can do is look down.<br />

Eventually, my brother stops crying and falls asleep. I keep looking down.<br />



At some point, I hear the window open and a someone step in. One of the Bat Family.<br />

“Hey are you two alright?” I say nothing. I hear him walk over to Oliver and then to me.<br />

“Hey, you're safe now.” He lifts my head up to look at his. “Can you tell me what happened? I know you must've been through a lot, but-" I look in his eyes for a moment, but then slowly let my head fall and stop listening.<br />

“Oracle, I've found… uh… the Wayne boys. One appears to have lacerations on his shoulder, his cheek, and a slight mark on his throat….. No, there's no sign of the perpetrators. Could you call the Batmobile over? Thanks."<br />

“Okay, kids. Let's get you untied.” I hear him open his utility belt and start cutting my binds. “That's one down.” I let my hands fall to my sides.<br />

I hear him move towards Oliver and cut his binds. He starts telling a story from his adventures as Nightwing. I tune it out.<br />

Eventually, the batmobile arrives with a roar below. “That's our ride boys! Let's go.” He grabs me under my arm and around my back and does the same for Oliver, who's still sleeping.<br />

He makes his way with us down to the batmobile and places us in the back. Then hops in the driver seat. “You know, not everyone gets to ride in the batmobile.” I say nothing. “Tough crowd.”<br />

He starts to drive away. In silence.<br />

A few minutes later he hits a button, then looks back at me speaks. “All jokes aside, kid. Are you alright? What happened?”<br />

“I don't want to talk about it.”<br />

“I understand, kid, but when you get home to your worried family, I hope you'll tell them. Alright?” He hits the button again and keeps driving.<br />

After a few more minutes, we reached the outskirts of Wayne Manor. Nightwing gets out and talks with Alfred for a few moments, then opens the door to the batmobile, grabs Oliver and places him in the car. He closes the door and comes around to get me. Opens the door, grabs me, and takes me over to the car.<br />

Nightwing says his goodbyes and races off in the Batmobile and Alfred drives the two of us down the lane to the Manor. We reach the front entrance, where Dick is waiting. He takes the both of us, much like Nightwing, up to our room and places us in bed. Alfred comes in to take a look at Oliver's injuries, carefully stitching his two knife wounds and placing bandages on them.<br />

Dick looks my direction. “Get some sleep, kid. We'll talk in the morning.”<br />

Alfred and Dick leave the room, the door clicking shut.<br />

My brother is already sleeping soundly. I crawl my way over and wrap my arms around him.<br />

Tears fall from my eyes. I whisper. “I'm sorry I failed you.”<br />

Eventually, I fall asleep clutching my brother.<br />
