"Actually," you say, "since you know the game really well, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers?"
Loki's smile deepens, and his eyes soften. He looks at you with an expression that gives you the a sense that he is feeling something akin to fatherly pride of all things. "Sure. I don't mind showing you a few things." He gets up and walks to the door. "Let's take this outside where we have more room."
"Sure," you say, then turn to Cora. "Wait here." The doll sits on the ground as you follow Loki through the door and into the hallway. He takes you down the cross passage that you noticed in your earlier visit, and out the door. The scene outside is breathtaking. A lush temperate rain-forest surrounds and envelopes you. It reminds you of the beautiful natural environments of Washington State or Western Canada. The fresh clean smell of the forest stands out in stark contrast to the smell of subdued air pollution of your suburban home. The roar of the nearby waterfall almost drowns out all other sounds as you have to pause and take it all in. It's paradise, or at least one man's version of it. Loki just smiles and waits as you take it all in.
"This is gorgeous!" you yell over the sound of the falls.
^Thanks,^ you hear Loki's voice in your mind, ^I tend to use telepathy here. It makes communication a lot simpler. Give it a try.^
You focus on sending your thoughts to Loki and think, ^Can you hear me now?^
^Now that's a dated reference,^ says Loki in your mind. You even get the sense that he is laughing a bit. ^Weren't those commercials a little before your time?^
^Internet,^ you think to him, laughing a bit yourself.
^Well, no need to overdo things. Let's make our way to the lake. Ready to fly?^
^Fly?^ god you love your new powers! ^Hell, yeah!^
^What does my daughter Hel have to do with it?^ jokes Loki as he takes to the air.
You focus on flying, and find yourself lifted into the air by your thought alone. You follow Loki as he leads you into the valley of his forest realm. The wind against your face is exhilarating as you revel in the unique sensation of self-powered flight. Before long Loki descends toward a tiny island on a lake in the valley basin. You both alight on the island at almost the same time. It is as picturesque as the rest of Loki's realm, and you find yourself starting to believe that he must have increased the saturation of color in his forest because of the depths of greens, blues, and browns that surround you.
Loki makes his way to a stone bench, intricately carved in Norse fashion, complete with runes and knotwork. Loki sits calmly on the bench, and you follow suit. The bench offers a spectacular view of the western edge of Loki's realm, and you're pretty certain that the sunsets from this location must be spectacular.
"Your realm is incredible," you say.
"Thanks. I've always been a bit of a nature lover. You seemed to enjoy the flight."
"It was amazing! . . . and telepathy . . . I'm just overwhelmed."
"And we've barely scratched the surface."
"Yeah," you reply, "well, I'm here to learn."
Loki laughs lightly saying, "I'm not going to show you everything. That would take for-ever. I'll get you started though. I also can't show you how to use moderator tools. I refused moderator status when they offered it to me. Could you imagine me as a moderator." He laughs deeply.
You join him in the laugh. "That would seem out of place."
"So what would you like to learn first, my boy?"
