Sam opened his eyes. The sun shone through the window and warmly illuminated the room he shared with his little sister, KIm.

Sam lazily sat up on his bed, careful not to bump his head on the ceiling. He slept on the top of a two story bunkbed that his father made when Sam was five. Kim’s bed was the bottom one, as she was afraid of falling from the top bed when sleeping. Still half asleep, Sam wondered what time it was. The clock sitting on his desk indicated it was 7:58…

HOLY SHIT!

“Shit, shit, shit, shit,” he said as he desperately jumped off his bed to get ready for school. The bus left at 8:00 am. His sister was nowhere to be seen and his mom wasn’t yelling at him to hurry. He felt a torrent of panic. For the first time in two years he was going to be late to school.

He was so gonna die. His father would hate him. His mother would be disappointed. His teachers would scold him. His friends would laugh. His sister… would she become embarrassed of having such an irresponsible brother?

Sam dashed to the bathroom, flung open the door, peed as fast as he could, brushed his teeth, combed his hair, and ran downstairs. He could ''not'' ruin his perfect attendance. Everyone was expecting him to do better, and if Sam let them all down he would never be able to live it down. He found his mother in the kitchen and a plate of soggy cereal on the table. Sam honestly didn’t have time for breakfast. Grabbing his backpack, Sam said a quick bye to his mother and left before she could say anything.

Outside, Sam sprinted across his front-yard and wished for the first time ever that his family had a smaller yard. He ran along the sidewalk and caught a glimpse of the school bus departing…

“No, no, no, noooo!!!” Sam was too late. “God damnit!” He pointlessly chased after the bus until it turned the corner.Sam slowed to stop, frustrated that life was so complicated and unfair.

He ran back to his house and hoped that his mom have time to give him a ride. Sam was going to be late either way, his mother wasn’t the quickest driver, and she wasn’t even ready to go out yet. The bell rang at 8:40. He entered his home gasping and sweating. Sam found his mother still in the kitchen, washing the bowl from his uneaten breakfast.

“Mom, I’m sorry, I missed the bus! Please take me to school,” Sam cried in desperation. They had to hurry, or he would be so late that the school would suspend him.

After too much time wasted on putting on make up and perfecting her hair, Sam’s mother slowly drove him to school at a whopping 18 miles/hr. The speed limit was 25 mi/hr.

Sam accused his mother of not waking him up on time, it was ''her job'' as a mother after all. But she denied that by claiming that Sam was old enough to be responsible for his sleep schedule. ''“Bull,”'' Sam thought, ''“I’m only 8, what do you mean old enough?”''

It was true that Sam acted more mature and responsible than most kids his age, but that didn’t mean adults can just ignore their responsibility and dump it on him. Sam recalled many occasions that an adult left him with responsibility that wasn’t his. “Sam, you should know that you don’t mix the black clothes with the white!” ''Really? I wonder why I didn’t think of that… oh that’s right, ‘cause you never taught me to wash clothes! You just one day decided that it was suddenly my job to do that. Stupid adults.''

Finally arriving at his school, Sam jumped out the car and waved his mom goodbye. Entering his school, the principle was there giving out tardy passes, which were given to students who arrived late but could still make it to class before the doors closed. As Sam ran up to grab one, the principle was surprised when he recognized Sam and asked him why he was running late. Sam didn’t feel like explaining so he made up a stupid excuse.

Sam was late and it was his own fault. As much as he’d like to think it was his mother’s fault for not waking him up on time, the truth was that he had slept late that night because he was up late masturbating. He never felt more ashamed and embarrassed in his life. Everything he had worked for, his perfect attendance, his reputation, his dignity… all gone because he pleasured himself while watching a girl get double penetrated.

Hanging his head low, Sam walked through the hallways thinking of what to say to everyone that was going to question why he lost his flawless record. Nothing came to mind.

At last he arrived to his classroom. Standing outside the door he checked his phone for the hour. He was four minutes late. He probably could have made it only two minutes late, but he didn’t feel like running down the halls after he got the tardy pass. He looked at the piece of paper in his hand that signified humiliation, and wished so hard that it would disappear. It didn’t.

Sam entered the classroom. He handed the teacher the humiliation paper and tried his best to ignore all the looks coming from all the people in the room, including the teacher. As Sam walked to his seat he heard the whispers and felt the stares. Laughing. Giggles. The teacher hushed them down, but even she was staring at Sam form behind. He felt it. Sam sat down and took his notebook out onto his desk. He began scribbling and doodling. It usually helped calm him, but now it made him feel more anxious.

Finally the teacher resumed class and slowly but surly the students began to take their eyes off Sam. They had forgotten about him, except for a few,  one of which was his best friend.

“Psst, hey Sam.”

“Ignore her,” Sam thought.

“Sam, what happened, why are you late?”

Sam was now hating that his best friend just so happens to sit right behind him.

“Sam! Why are you late, did you fall out of your bed?” She said. “Did you hit your head?”

Sam was so close to turning around and slapping her right over her big mouth. Audrey was one of those friends that were super fun to hang out with when all you want is to have fun, but tedious to have them around when you just want calm and quiet.

Audrey was not letting Sam ignore her when he has such a juicy mystery hiding in him. “If you don’t want to talk to me I’ll tell the teacher you kissed me,” She threatened.

“Shut up Audrey!” Sam pleaded, but too loudly. The teacher heard him and gave Sam a mean stare, as to say ''“Not only are you late to my class, but you dare talk while I teach?”''

Sam had enough. Today was the worst day of his life, there wasn’t anyway it could get worse. So he decided to turn around and have a conversation with Audrey.

“Look,” he began, “I woke up late and my mom didn’t wake me either, so I missed the bus. Are you happy now?”

“Satisfied” Audrey responded, with a smug look on her face. Sooner or later Sam always gave her what she wanted. “By the way,” She went on, “do you ever wanna kiss me again?”

Sam rolled his eyes,.“No, we’re just friends now. I told you, I don’t want to date you. I don’t like you ‘that’ way,” He said. Audrey and Sam met when Sam was dared by his friends to date someone. He thought Audrey was the prettiest, but eventually proved to much of a nuisance to call her his girlfriend. She constantly showed Sam off to her friends, and eventually they got in trouble for being too young to date. Sam still found her to be quite the funny individual, so he broke it up and agreed to just be friends. His first ever girlfriend became his best friend.

Sam turned around to doodle in his notebook. “My mom took too long to put on her make up. I hate that girls always have to put on make it, it’s such a waste of time!” Sam said, drawing a small starfish.

“I think people look better with make up.” Audrey said.

“No they don’t. Some put on too much make up,” Sam said. He can’t understand why someone would think that putting paint on their face makes them prettier.

“Only some people, but people should be allowed to use make up if they want to.” Audrey said. Audrey wanted to one day learn to use make up. She thought it would be fun.

“Whatever.” Sam said. He was so done talking. At last he decided to pay attention to class, and the day continued on as any other day. Mostly. Apart from the occasional looks and laughs from his classmates. After the final bell rang and Sam headed to the buses, the question Audrey asked him brought a bad memory into Sam’s mind.

On his way home Sam thought about his father, Michael.

Michael was a fat, grumpy, child abuser. Sam had learned what that meant when his father had been arrested for sexually exploiting Sam and Kim. It started with Sam’s father coming into the sibling’s shared room when Sam was around five. Kim was only three years old at the time, but the father had wanted to take pictures of them hugging. Both Sam and Kim didn’t think anything strange of it, their mother took pictures of them hugging or playing all the time. Another time they were asked to touch each others butts as their father filmed them. Soon after that, he kept coming back to take more pictures of them, each getting progressively more perverted. Kim was eventually taken to another room alone with Sam’s father. Sam was curious as to what was happening, so after learning that the door had been left unlocked, Sam peeked into his parent’s bedroom to find his sister naked while his father took pictures of her. It disturbed Sam greatly to see something like that. He didn’t know how to process what he was seeing. Sam eventually told his mother of what he saw, and well, what happened next is just a bad memory. That's what Sam wanted to believe, anyways.

They arrived at the Sam’s stop. Kim was siting at the back of the bus and Sam at the front. He didn’t feel like waiting for his sister this time. Finally in his home, he headed upstairs. Just before he opened the door to his room she appeared.

“Where do you think you’re going young man?” said Sam’s mother, Millie. “What happened today?”

“Nothing, my teacher just got mad.” Sam said back, yearning to be left alone.

“Alright then. Don’t you want anything to eat?” she asked discreetly.

“No thanks.” Sam suspected that she wanted to talk to him more over dinner. He felt like he shouldn’t ignore her, but he just couldn’t deal with this right now. He needed to rest. Sam when in his room just as he head his sister open the front door. He pulled his backpack off and chucked it on the ground. He flopped onto bed and fell fast asleep.

Today had been a shit day.

Chapter 2

Sam’s childhood is something he holds dear to him. But all kids continuously develop and grow…

3 Years later

Sam opened his eyes. The sun shone through the window and warmly illuminated the room he shared with his little sister, KIm.

Chapter 3

Sam’s side of the story is the one of a typical horny 8 year old, right? Guess we’ll have to see! Anyways, thanks for reading this second chapter, which is really just a page. Next chapter the narrative focus/perspective will change to another character. Can you guess who? I am always open to constructive criticism and ideas. See ya!
