Her dad is quite old but seems real nice; he invites you in and points up the stairs. "Second door on the left," he says; "I'll be up with milk and cookies in ten minutes."

You wander around looking at the books on the shelve (pretty much the same as yours) and sit down in front of her computer. "Wow!" you say; "this is a lot better than mine." She tells you that her dad got it from work and pulls up a chair to sit beside you as she starts it up.

The milk and cookies arrive and you stay where you are and her dad, instead of leaving, sits down on her bed. He starts asking about school and of course you shrug and say everything is fine. "I know your teacher, Mr Simpson," he says.

"Daddy and Mr Simpson belong to a camera club," Melanie says. You just shrug and blow some cookie crumbs off the keyboard as you click on a few icons to see what she does on her computer. "The janitor goes there too," she says.

That catches your interest. "What do they do there," you ask.

"We just learn about taking good pictures," her father says.

Melanie giggles, but doesn't explain what's funny.
