Ethan Dunn is a small boy, a weak boy, one could even call him a wimp. He has more than his share of trouble with his peers. He is bullied regularly. On top of this, his father, James, considers him a disappointment, his mother, Ellen treats him like a baby, his brother, Brad, torments him, and his older sister, Chloe, belittles him. About the only good relationships he has are with his younger sister, Amber and his best friend, Henry. All in all, he doesn't have a pleasant life.

Ethan is on his way home from school, making the normal five block trek with Amber, when he spots something gleaming in the bushes. Tossed from a moving car late last night, the Mark of Fate sits waiting for its next target, while still affecting its last. Ethan's curiosity is peeked.

"Hold on, Amber," says the boy, "I see something in the bushes." He makes his way to the gleaming treasure, and summarily picks it up.

"What is it?" asks Amber.

"Some kind of coin," says Ethan as he returns to the sidewalk. "It looks brand new. I think it's made of silver."

"My god," says Amber, "you're rich!"

"It's not that valuable," says Ethan with a laugh. He gives it a heft, trying to estimate the weight. "Maybe eight ounces?"

"How much is it worth," asks his sister.

"I'm not sure."

Skuld knows the future, what will Ethan do with the coin?
