That sounds great, but I was planning on making the case of the remote seamless and indestructible; so he would need to use the remote to open the remote up (at least in my original concept).  If you can fit that into your storyline, I would appreciate it.  Additionally, I didn't have the box containing the remote smaller than the remote and book (though that Tardus-like quality would fit well for the inside of the remote).  Also due to the heft of the book, the box is relatively heavy.  Contrary to myth, paper is quite heavy for its size.  I look forward to what you write.  --Elerneron (talk) 15:03, 16 October 2018 (CEST)
I did change the universe number, so there's some excuse that things will be slightly different. Maybe a different hyper-dimensional being made this box but couldn't quite fit everything inside so he/she/it gave themselves a couple of extra inches to work with. The book itself will be about the size of a toaster and will weigh about 25lbs. I got this number from an online book weight calculator. 8x11 and about 5000 pages. The Remote will be a respectable 5lbs. Much heavier than any remote should be. As for opening the remote, yes it's unbreakable but the instructions for opening and repairing it are in the manual. I was thinking about making that section be chapter 2 just after the initial tuning in chapter 1. --Quiller (talk) 15:59, 16 October 2018 (CEST)
Sounds like you have your ideas well in hand.  Sorry to butt in, in that case.  --Elerneron (talk) 17:01, 16 October 2018 (CEST)
I have some plans, but this is the story you started, so your input is always valued. I'm actually ripping off sections of what you wrote while filling in gaps with additional details that seem good. I knew starting out that I could only do this for so long before I ran out of examples to borrow/steal. That's the main reason I changed the universe number (to NASA's JPL phone number according to google). --Quiller (talk) 20:30, 16 October 2018 (CEST)

I liked the concept of the universe remote but was not a fan of the main protagonist being a 10-year-old boy. This we have Ken. A 29-year-old virgin (soon to be wizard) who is just trying to live life day to day. He has a very strong arrogant streak that will get him into trouble repeatedly as the story progresses. I also have a story path partially planned where he opens the back of the remote and breaks something which causes the results to be more erratic than not regardless of how attuned he becomes. -Quiller (talk) 04:49, 16 October 2018 (CEST)

I have some plans, but this is the story you started, so your input is always valued. I'm actually ripping off sections of what you wrote while filling in gaps with additional details that seem good. I knew starting out that I could only do this for so long before I ran out of examples to borrow/steal.
