BASICS

There are no rules as to what kind of content you can write, and there's no mods you're absolutely required to have. You can focus on any part of the game you want, or choose to ignore some specific parts, not write about certain quest chain you completed if it doesn't fit your journal. You can even write fanfiction without relying on the game at all. It's all up to you. However, indicating what kind of content readers can expect through tags is important.

First, add a link to your "journal" in the appropriate section down below. If your story is set in Skyrim, add it under "Journals from Skyrim". If it's set anywhere else, add it under "Journals from Other Regions". First tag should indicate what category your story falls into using the same categories this site uses to divide different types of stories with few minor caveats. Below are some examples:

• If the main character is attracted to young girls, or is a young girl herself, Loli tag would make sense.
• Stories involving homosexual content between young boys, or between adults and young boys should have a Shota tag.
• For friends of Furry, stories that have a focus on beast races of Tamriel, like Khajiit on Khajiit love and content involving Werebeasts, a Furry tag makes sense.
• For stories with the main focus being on infantophilia and toddlers, Nepi tag makes sense.
• For everything else (like adult on adult, stories involving kinks like tentacles, bondage and bestiality, and stories that mix a lot of elements) you can use the Meta tag.

Add additional tags to tell readers what they should expect in your specific journal. Don't forget to add your name either so it can be attributed to you. Site rules regarding tags and formatting obviously apply.

Here are some extra tags unique to this collection of stories to help reader understand what they're getting themselves into:

• Purist - Content is strictly limited to the gameplay and author's own adventures. References to the real world or videogame features such as menus, console and fast travel are prohibited. Fanmade characters and storylines are allowed.
• Lorefriendly - Journal doesn't have to be a perfect reflection of one's playthrough. The author is encouraged to use his or her imagination to add extra content to make the journals feel more unique. Same restrictions apply as above still apply, and in addition you can also add custom factions and new locations within existing lands.
• Fanfiction - Same as above, except that custom towns, lands, creatures and races which may not be so lore friendly are permitted.
• Unrestricted - No restrictions to written content. Your only limit is your own imagination.
• Spoilers - The story contains spoilers from various quests and events around the game.
• Vampirism / Lycanthrophy - Writer of the journal is not your conventional mortal.
• More, maybe? Open to feedback, use your imagination here.

I know the title of the story says "Skyrim", but content from other regions and other games from "the Elder Scrolls" universe is permitted. For content from other regions adding an additional tag to indicate which region it's based on is required.

FORMATTING YOUR JOURNAL

First page is free format, but it should include information about characters appearance, race and things which you probably wouldn't expect to find about the person on his or her journal, either on page or in a subpage. Things like backstory are also welcome there. Images are also welcome; you can either use in-game screenshots or drawings. You do not need to add an additional warning about 3D rendered images, as there already is a warning on the "meta stories" page.

The first page should have the links to the actual story, preferably at the top of the page to keep things consistent and content easier to find. You can either only add the link to the first page of the story, or all pages, whichever you prefer. The primary reason for why it's done this way is so we can take advantage of Mediawiki's subpage system for easier navigation.

To get things to work as intended, link to the character page should be as follows:

Meanwhile, links to the actual journal pages should look something like this:

If you're going to split your journal to multiple pages, it's highly recommended that you add more than just one "journal entry" to each page, especially if the entries you write about your adventures are short. Having pages with just few paragraphs or sentences in them is boring.

Finally, never forget to categorize the pages you add. Simple code below.

You can also add a secondary subcategory as well. This is optional, not required. If you're gonna do this, you can also add a page counter next to the link to your story. You can read more here. Some example code for copy and paste purposes below.

EDITING PERMISSIONS

As a rule, ask first.

Every journal is a reflection of one's own playthroughs, experiences or imagination, and as such making major changes or continuations to existing stories can just end up making things more difficult for the original author. However, it us up to every individual author to decide which parts of their story are open to be edited by anyone.

OTHER STUFF

I'm always open to feedback and suggestions regarding tags, formatting, rules and such.

Anyone who's interested in helping with any other stuff, like pictures, ccs, templates and such is free to do so as well. I'm not good with those things.

If you're looking to learn about lore or make the story as "Lorefriendly" as possible, a website called "The Imperial Library" is your best friend. You can read all kinds of stuff there, including in-game books and look up different books by topic.

This may be an overreach, but links to modding guides and such to help people are fine by me. I'm not going to add any for now. They should be pretty easy to find though, both on this website's forum as well as on many other forums.
