"Why don't you stay and have a coffee" Jack says.

"Can I have a soda," Melissa asks. She goes over to the office chair, climbs up and sits down with her feet sticking straight out. Her short skirt rides up to show most of her slim brown thighs but she makes no attempt to pull it down.

"Course you can," Jack says and takes a bottle out of a small fridge. The coffee is set out on top, and once he has taken the cap off the soda, he pours two cups. "Cream and sugar," he asks. Judging that the coffee has been stewing for some time, you opt for both and lean against the desk while you take a sip; it's as bad as you expected, but you pretend it's okay.

Jack sits down on the only other chair and picks up a radio. "Dave," he calls.

"Yeah..."

"I've got a visitor," Jack says. "Give us half an hour."

"Okay."

"My partner," Jack explains, rather needlessly; he twists the blind shut, locks the door and puts up a sign which says "GONE ON PATROL" with a number to call in an emergency. "We don't want to be disturbed, do we," he says, licking his lips.

Melissa looks at him and than at me. "Are you going to give me some money like last time," she asks, sounding a little nervous.
