The two older kids looked at each other, then to their little sister.
"Well she did help us get the story out of Mr. Mollister," said Aaron.
"Yeah, I guess," said Brittany. "I suppose you can come, squirt."
"Yeah!" exclaimed the six year old.
"Kids, keep up," yelled Divinity as the group rounded the corner.
The tour continued until the group entered a vast library. A thin layer of rust encircled the doorway that held massive, ornately carved wooden doors. Within were wall upon wall of books towering three levels tall surrounding a central area with several large sturdy oak tables and chairs as well as a half dozen desks with computers. Sitting at one of the desks were a pair of children, who were obviously related . . . nearly identical really other than the fact that one was male and the other female.
"This is the library, if it wasn't obvious," said Frank, "and these are my children Jackson and Jillian; at their studies as I have said. Their mother would be in the kitchens . . . we'll meet her later." Frank continued describing the library while his children drew closer.
They seemed twins, not just in appearance but mannerisms as they neared. They both looked to be about Aaron's age with bright green eyes and black hair. Jillian's was longer, to the middle of her back bound in twin ponytails. Jackson's hair was shorter and a bit tousled. Jackson was a few inches taller . . . but that was natural. Brittany, Aaron, and Mandy waited as the children approached them while the older members of the family, with Chrissy in tow, followed Frank on the tour.
"I'm Jack," said Jackson, "this is my sister Jill," he motioned to Jillian. "I see that you've seen some of the fey spirits that live here. Have they . . . umm . . . done anything to you yet?" The three fidgeted a little, but were unsure how to answer, or if they even wanted to.
"Don't worry," said Jill, "they can't come in here. The doors and windows are all encircled in cold iron. You might have noticed the rust. This is a safe zone from the fey."
"They didn't do nuthin'," said Mandy in her cute little way.
"Well, if you plan on playing with them," giggled Jill, "you should learn the rules so you don't get trapped."
"Actually," said Jack, "that isn't all you need to know. There's a lot more here than just fey creatures."
