Just as you are about to sit down in front of the TV, there's a knock at your apartment door and you open it without checking to see who it is. “Katie!” you say, wrapping your robe a little tighter as she barges past, dropping a bag on your bare toes.

“Mom’s been trying to ring you all morning,” she says as she stomps into the sitting room, flops down on the sofa, picks up the remote and turns the TV on. You stand, bemused, in the doorway looking at her. Your kid sister Katie is ten years old and cute as hell. She is athletic, like all your family, with the same black hair and blue-green eyes. Her hair has never been cut and today it’s hanging in a plait down her back. She can be pretty feisty, and you remember what happened last term when a boy from the year ahead of her pulled her pigtail...

You check your phone and find four missed calls and two messages. ‘Keep an eye on Katie for me today please.’ And, twenty minutes later; ‘Can she stay the night? – I’ve got a date.’

You pick up her bag and set about making coffee. “You want a drink,” you ask. She is busy, flicking through the channels and shakes her head. By the time you sit down with your coffee, she has found some cartoon or other, and you are on your second cup before she unglues her eyes from the screen and looks at you, noting your somewhat dishevelled appearance.

“You’ve got way more channels than we have at home,” she says. “Have a rough night did you? Is there a girl in there?” She nods towards the bedroom.

“No,” you say; you are thinking that some of those channels are not suitable for an ten-year-old and at the same time you are looking at where her short skirt has ridden up to reveal her white panties.

She sees you looking and makes no effort to cover herself. “See something you like,” she says, poking her tongue out and giving you the kind of glare that only a sister can do. You shake your head to get rid of the image of a smooth, pre-teen pussy, barely concealed by the strip of white material; “what are we going to do; we can’t watch TV all day,” you say, standing up.

“I’m going nowhere with you ‘till you’ve showered and had a shave,” she says, finding another cartoon.
