You tap Jet on the shoulder, but he just ignores you. So you tap more insistently. Jet does eventually acknowledge you, turning to face you across the aisle with a look that instantly shows you're being the annoying younger cousin right now.
"What?" Jet replies tersely.
"I've actually been to this camp before. It's not a 'real' camp anymore, it just used to be. But I helped find it with my dad and Uncle Dave. It's pretty good, but I'll let you in on a secret." You lean even closer from across the aisle, really just squatting in the aisle now, for dramatic effect. "There's a small cabin hardly no one knows about." Not really true. "It's way outside of camp." Very true. "My own personal cabin." Very not true. "But... if you wanted to share my cabin with me for the week I'd be down for that. You're both pretty cool." You watch their amiable expressions fluctuate a little as you fail to wow them. But you're quick to add, "You'd have a lot more privacy than you would in the main camp sharing the larger cabins."
You got Jet's attention, but he still looks skeptical. "Why are you telling me about it? Why not just claim it yourself?"
"I'm not sure there's enough cabins to just claim one myself, even if it is small." No way you can admit it's because your mom won't let you. "I wanted to make sure I got to choose who would join me out there, so I'm asking my favorite cousin."
"Are you sure it's as private as you say? Where is it exactly?"
You explain its general position, but that doesn't convince Jet. He tries to turn back toward his girlfriend, so you offer more detail to keep him hooked. You do your best to preserve your advantage of being the only one who knows where the cabin is, but Jet refuses to believe the cabin is as great as you say it is until you've practically draw a map in his mind.
"Alright. Sure cuz! Thanks for the tip. There's room for all three of us out there? Sounds like it would be a lot more comfortable with just two."
"There's totally enough room for three!" At lease you sure hope so.
"Even so, it would still be better with two."
You do not like the way this is going. You try to find something to assert your claim of the cabin, but it takes you a moment to find the words. Jet's girlfriend finally finds her chance to jump in. "Jet, you aren't trying to kick your cousin out of his own cabin are you?" She drapes herself over his back to address you. "You shouldn't have let him trick you into sharing how to get there. I think it would be fun, though. We're supposed to be spending time with your family, right? We can't just spend the whole week out there all alone, just the two of us in a cabin." She looks like she might already be losing her own argument before anyone else had a chance to speak. "That's no good! I've never been camping before either, so it would be good to have someone with us who knows the camp already, right?"
Jet does not appreciate her efforts to sabotage their chance at a private cabin. "I've been camping plenty of times, too. Plus he already shared everything he knows about the camp with me, so we don't need him."
"I haven't told you everything I know!" You try to convince him he still needs you, but you're already talking to his back. Jet and his girlfriend have wrapped themselves around each other in a hungry kiss, apparently thinking about all the things they'll do this week in your cabin, without you.
