The jedi relaxed against the bed, glad for the woman's aid. Before going back to sleep, she tried to reach out with the force to sense her young apprentice. Eventually, Lya and her master would be able to sense each other's presence easily. But the pair hadn't built up such a bond yet. It was only Lya's first mission after all, and what a disaster it had turned into. Amila only blamed herself as she gave up her attempt to reach out with the force. Chapter 5

Jedi Master Amila Takari looked around the unfamiliar room. It was dimly lit and the walls bare. She found herself lying in bed, terribly thirsty, and feeling rather weak. The last thing she remembered was running down a back alley and collapsing. She had just escaped her captors after using the force to lull herself into a deep coma, akin to death. While, she had been able to slip away, her real injuries had proved too great and the Jedi had been unable to make it very far.

She touched her head, feeling the spot where she hit the large crates after escaping the explosion. Someone had bandaged it. The Jedi tried to sit up, but immediately felt dizzy and was unable to move much further.

“Ah you’re finally awake,” an older woman had spotted her as she walked by the room. “Best take it easy, dear.“

“How long was I…” she made out a few words, sinking back into the bed with the strange woman now at her side.

“You’ve been out for two days,” the woman answered. “It looks like you had quite the adventure.”

“That’s not quite how I would phrase it,” the Jedi mumbled.

“You’re safe here,” the woman said. “At least for now.” She dared not tell her the rest. It was clear that the Jedi would need more time to recover. She couldn’t reveal the men had come through the streets asking about a woman fitting her description. Of course, none of the locals were willing to tell the corrupt officers anything useful. And so far, they had not suspected the Jedi to be in the care of the old woman—at least not yet.

"Your body still needs time to heal, just rest for now and I'll go find you something to eat," the older woman grabbed a glass of water from a nearby table. "Here, drink." The jedi didn't argue, nor did she try to speak any more. It was obvious she was in no state to go anywhere. But then—

"A girl," Amila managed, grabbing the older woman’s hand. "I was with a girl!"

"Shhh, take it easy," the older woman answered. "I haven't heard about any girl, but I promise I will ask around. Try not to worry yourself, dear."

The jedi relaxed against the bed, glad for the woman's aid. Though without her lightsaber, Amila felt quite exposed. She tried to reach out with the force to sense her young apprentice. Eventually, Lya and her master would be able to sense each other's presence easily. But the pair hadn't built up such a bond yet. It was only Lya's first mission after all, and what a disaster it had turned into. Amila only blamed herself as she gave up her attempt to reach out with the force. It wasn't long before the older woman returned with soup, which the Jedi gladly ate. It helped her feel much stronger, but it was clear that she still needed rest. And so, she slipped back into a deep sleep.
