Jenny comes running up. "You're not s'posed to talk to strange men," she says. "What are you eating?"

You giggle and point to where the black man has put another jelly baby on his willy. Jenny gasps. "What did they say at school about men in cars with sweeties," she says.

You shrug. "He doesn't look like a pedo wassname."

She looks at the man, who smiles at her, still holding his willy up with a jelly baby on the top.

"If you want one, you gotta pick it up with your lips," you say.

"Eww! He pees through that."

You shrug. "I did it and it tasted okay (although it did taste a bit strange). I'll have that one if you don't. You look at her, daring her to try.

After a moment, she leans in, sucks up the sweet and stands there chewing it. “What flavour are they? It tasted funny,” she says, but keeps chewing.

"Why don't you girls sit in the car with me," he says, flashing his white teeth in a smile and jiggling the bag of sweets.

Now, you are not stupid and you’re pretty sure that this man must be one of those paedothigies you heard about. You know that you should run away and tell a grownup, so he will get arrested and sent to prison, but, like the elephant in your story book, you are full of 'satiable curtiosity and anyway, there's that tingly feeling again. Mummy says curiosity killed the cat, but you don't know what that means.

The man opens the door and gets out, looking up and down the deserted street. "Go on, you can show me the way to the park," he says. It's a bit of a climb to get up into the big car, and he puts his hands round your waist and lifts you in. Then he lifts Jenny in so you are both squashed together in the front seat. He closes the door, walks around to the driver's side and gets in. "Buckle up," he says and leans over to help put the seat belt around both of you. He's pretty clumsy and first, his hand goes up under Jenny’s skirt, pushing it up so her knickers are showing. Then his big warm hand is on your bare leg, fumbling about until the seatbelt is clicked in.

"Oops, sorry," he says with a big grin.
