"That can't be easy for you--..." you begin, only to be quickly cut-off by a defeated:
"Oh, you cannot even begin to imagine what a nuisance she is. Not a day goes by without her calling me an 'old bitch'; and she never does anything I ask her to do. I have never had any delusions about starting a family; but I have always seen myself as a person who loves children at least. That little brat is just too much to put up with though. I think I genuinely dislike even having her around; and the sheer knowledge of that just breaks my heart."
She scoffs, looking down at the table with a hopeless grin while shaking her head. "Sorry, Jackie. You probably weren't interested in hearing all my worries."
This is the first time in your life that you've ever seen Fiona display any actual emotions; she even looks vulnerable, like she could use a shoulder to cry out on.
