"You mentioned cultural deviation Doctor Charbonneau," you say. "Could you elaborate on the problem?"

"Bien sûr," she says, "being separated from our loved ones is only the first part of the problem culturally. We are used to doing things a certain way. Here in the vault, especially with our special circumstances, things will necessarily have to change, no? We need to decide how to guide the changes to culture that must occur, and in what direction to guide them. The alternative cultural chaos could be very detrimental to the vault as a whole."

"Ummm," says Doctor Witney, "can you give us an example of what you mean?"

"D’accord, for instance, young Tay is the only male in the vault. That means that our concepts of monogamy have to be abandoned. We must decide if we abandon marriage altogether, adopt polygamy, separate the concepts of marriage and reproduction, all become wives of Tay regardless of other concerns, or some other solution. And that is just one example."

"What are the cutural concerns that you feel we need to address, Doctor Charbonneau," asks Doctor Romero.

"Well, there is: the transition away from a purely democratic system and the limitation of certain liberties for the survival of the vault, the adaptation of marital relationships, and dealing with life in an enclosed environment. All of these things are important decisions that need to be made to decide the direction that the vault takes going forward. These are key changes to the way we will live our lives going forward, and require our full attention. I therefore move that they are discussed after all other business in this meeting as the conclusion of our dealings today."

"I second that motion," says Chief Killian.

"All in favor?" you ask.

Everyone but Chief Runningdeer raises their hands.

"Opposed," you say. Chief Runningdeer doesn't raise her hand.

"Could care less," says Chief Runningdeer as she raises her hand.

"Very well then," you say, "moving on . . ."

What issue should you tackle next?
