Hobbits

Attribute Ranges

  • Body: Pitiful to Average (1-5)
  • Mind: Weak to Superb (3-7)
  • Spirit: Average to Exceptional (5-8)

Abilities

  • Compulsion Resistance: Hobbits have a resistance to magical compulsions. This is likely due to the lack of ambition that the race naturally develops.

Biology

Appearance

Hobbits are short humanoids descended from a particular community of gnome-human crosses that speciated in isolation.

  • Height: Hobbits are the shortest of the humanoid races, averaging between 3' to 3'6" tall. Particularly tall hobbits can reach as tall as 4'.
  • Weight: Hobbits have a similar weight as humans of their same height and build would have.
  • Build: Hobbits are similar to humans, but tend toward the heavier side, especially as they age, due to their lifestyle.
  • Bust: Hobbits have breasts between A-cup and D-cup. Their narrow breast range is likely due to the lack of greater genetic diversity.
  • Penis: Hobbits have a similar narrow range of penis sizes. They are generally between 3" and 5", with a rare few having penises of up to 6" long.
  • Skin: Hobbits also have a narrow range of skin tones ranging from peach to tan.
  • Hair: Hobbits can have blond, brown, or red hair. They are well known for the hair on their feet, which is practically fur.
  • Eyes: Hobbits generally have brown eyes; with hazel, gray, blue, and green occurring on rare occasion.
  • Other details: Hobbits have slightly pointed ears. Their feet are disproportionately large in relation to their bodies.

Genders

Hobbits can be male or female only.

Reproduction

Hobbits reproduce sexually.

  • Hobbits can cross with any lesser, humanoid, or greater race.
    • Hobbit-gnome and hobbit-human crosses are particularly successful.
    • Hobbits rarely have the opportunity to mingle with other races, so interracial relationships are rare among them.
  • Purely hobbit pregnancies last about 10 months.

Age

Hobbits age somewhat slower than humans.

  • Hobbit ages can be calculated by multiplying their age were they humans by 1.2.
  • A hobbit that is entering adolescence would be around 12-14 years old.
  • Hobbits reach maturity at around 21 years old, and live about 100 years.

Diet

Hobbits are omnivores.

  • Hobbit fare is about the same as humans.
  • Hobbits give a great deal of importance to meals, having around 10 small meals in a day.
  • Hobbits place a great deal of importance on food quality, often finding flaw with food that would be perfectly acceptable by other races.

Other Considerations

  • Hobbits developed from a very limited gene-pool. They lack a great degree of genetic diversity, but also exhibit very few deleterious genetic traits; resulting in a very low rate of birth defects.

Spirituality

Worship

Hobbits worshiped the human gods before the god war. Most have accepted their demise.

  • The hobbits were not involved in the god war at all. It was far too troublesome.
  • About 25% of hobbits still actively worship the human gods. They do this openly as other hobbits don't care one way or another, and they rarely have other races visiting them.

Afterlife

The human gods have many afterlives, with nearly every deity having their own.

  • A hobbit who faithfully follows their patron deity will find themselves in that deity's realm after they die.
  • A hobbit who does not follow their patron deity faithfully, regularly "sinning" against the deity, will find themselves in the hellish realm of Kras-Kel, to have their sins purged from their soul before they can enter their patron's realm. The period of purging is exorbitantly long; even a mildly sinful soul with spend tens of thousands of years in Kras-Kel.

Other Considerations

  • Hobbits are slow to accept change. The change from worshiping deities to not worshiping them is no exception. They are likely to end up as the last religious holdouts.

Magic and Technology

Magic

Hobbits are able to learn magic as well as humans.

  • About 5% of hobbits have the potential to be sorcerers.
  • Hobbits tend to avoid magic as it is far too scandalous.
  • The rare hobbit who knows magic usually keeps it hidden to avoid gossip as much as possible.

Technology

Hobbits are capable technologists, but tend to shun new technology just as much as they shun anything new.

Culture

Hobbits are a comfort-loving race of human-descended humanoids.

Taboos

Hobbits are very set in their ways, and reluctant to change. Their taboos have been the same for millennia.

  • Hobbits have very strong nudity taboos, and are easily offended by the nudity of others.
  • Hobbits have a necessarily relaxed incest taboo. Marriages are permitted as close as cousins, but no closer. Every hobbit is related to every other hobbit in some manner.
  • Hobbits have a very strong bestiality taboo, and are disgusted by the very thought of it. Hobbit women have been known to faint from the audacity of someone even speaking of the subject.
  • Hobbits have a taboo against homosexuality, shunning anyone who practices such.
  • Hobbits have a very strict taboo against underage sex. The age at with sex is acceptable is 21.
  • Hobbits have a strong taboo against premarital and extramarital sex, shunning anyone who practices such.
  • Hobbits have a taboo against adventures and anything too exciting. Fireworks are about the most exciting thing that is acceptable.
  • Hobbits have a level of distrust for anyone or anything new. They prefer the familiar.
  • Hobbits are easily offended by bad manners.

Residence

Hobbits live in hobbit holes. A lot has been written about them. Look them up if you are curious.

Other Considerations

  • Most hobbits can tell you exactly how they are related to any other hobbit. Every hobbit knows their close genealogy at the very least.
