God's Compensation/Tell it to them straight
“Hello, how can we help you today?” The receptionist asks in a gentle voice that is just happy enough not to be annoying to someone in pain.
“Ummm.... I think I may be seeing some early signs of schizophrenia and thought I should get checked out.” You tell them.
“Are you suffering from some kind of hallucinations?” They ask you.
“Yeah, I just had a very bad one.” You tell them.
“That could be a lot of things," they say, "I will direct you to Neurology, that's the first step anyway. If you're right, they will probably refer you on to the psychology department. At any rate, just go in and tell them you are having hallucinations, they'll take care of you.”
With this, they point you in the right direction and you proceed on to talk with the Nurologist. Once you have explained your situation, they seem rather interested in the matter of how suddenly the hallucinations came on and rush you into the back to see the doctor. They gave you some forms to fill out and took your insurance card, but you are hardly even half way through filling out the first form before they are pulling you into the examination room. The doctor gives you some coordination exams and asks you about stress then orders some tests. He then tells you that he wants to get you in an MRI, but it might be a bit of a wait. He has you scheduled for the machine in about five hours, but if you want to wait in the waiting room then they might be able to get you in sooner.
