"Well, it's less trips if we both go see it I suppose," you say.
"Lead on then," says Loki.
You get up from the sofa, and head out the futuristic apartment into the opulent ancient hallway. "So this is the private realm that you talked about?"
"What?" asks Loki, "yes . . . well, yes and no. This is my private apartments in my private realm. What do you think?"
"Pretty impressive. I'd like to see the rest someday."
"No problem. You have the knocker."
"So how does one go about getting their own realm?" you ask as you get to the end of the hallway.
"Oh, that," says Loki, "weeeell, you have to attain god status, or moderator status, or buy a premium membership. God status is no longer awarded and you can't buy a premium membership since you don't have an actual account, and it's unlikely the admins are going to make you a moderator so . . ." Loki winks at you with an odd smile.
"No private realm for me," you say with a sigh.
"Don't forget the knocker,"says Loki as you move toward the stairs. You turn and grab the knocker. It easily comes off with a tug, and you put it in your Infinity Pocket.
"It's up here in the attic." You climb the stairs, and once again carefully move past the Holidays. Loki, meanwhile passes right through them. "How did you do that?"
"What?"
"Pass through them as if they weren't there."
"Oh, that," says Loki, "gods have certain skills available to them that can't be learned by non-gods. It uses the neural interface so it's a lot easier to use than spells, psionics or superpowers."
"So do you think they'll ever open things up to allow more gods?"
"It really depends on you lifies. You're the ones who took things down the path of godless heathens," he says with a chuckle. "Maybe if you start worshiping gods again. This server is free-form. We pretty much let society develop as it will. Yeah, getting the god flag ticked in your code via the game isn't likely to happen."
"God 'flag'?" you ask.
"Yep," says Loki with a wink, "it's just one bit. A simple matter of changing a zero to a one."
"Does that mean that you . . ." you being to say. The implications of what he is insinuating boggles the mind. Did Loki make you a god?
"There she is!" says Loki as he heads over to the doll. "Let's take a look under the hood, gorgeous."
In a daze, you walk over to where Loki is examining the doll.
"Oh, I remember these!" he suddenly exclaims. "This is Sam's work. Created quite a stir when they first showed up. I thought they were all in private collections by now."
You shake yourself from your reverie. "Sam?"
"Sammael, another player . . . well, not at the time. She was a hacker at the time."
"Sammael . . ." you say, "like, the Devil Sammael?"
"Yep, that's her."
"The devil is a girl?"
"Well, she usually plays with male avatars, but when she went all hacker and started fucking with shit she revealed her true gender. With my . . . umm . . . enhancements like those that you now enjoy i was able to determine that regardless of what sex she is in her physical form she definitely identifies as a bi-sexual woman."
"Hot."
"You're telling me," laughs Loki. "The funny thing is that people were always comparing us. I mean a lot. We both liked to have fun and cause trouble. She just pushed things to far. I've gone over the line a time or two, but she nuked the other side of the line regularly."
"Sounds like you two could have hit it off."
"Oh we were friends . . . well sort of. More like rivals, I suppose. There was never anything romantic though. First off she always plays guys; and while I'm a little bi, I mostly prefer women. Second, she is way too much like me . . . I am a horrible romantic partner. Just ask any of my ex-wives."
"Cool, didn't mean to pry."
"Hey, if it was too personal I wouldn't share."
"So what's up with the doll?"
"It's a mana engine. It makes its own magic. They are exceedingly rare items. They usually aren't cursed. These little babies were released on Victorian England when magic was nearly dead. The mana engine allowed the magic to work. The curse is that the engine needs semen to create magic so it produced a wave of arousal for men. When the engine converts the semen to mana it drains the life force of the man who produced the semen. It killed a lot of lifies in sexually repressed Victorian England . . . quite a few players avatars as well. It didn't work exactly like Sam thought it would though. The players loved them, so the admins tweaked the code to add fear as a warning and a god block (gods are immune to the life drain) and left them in the game. They don't kill you all at once, so if you give yourself time to recover they're very useful. They can bring magic even into non-magical areas. It's a good find."
"So with this thing I could do magic?"
"If you get along with her . . . sure."
"Get along with her? Do you mean . . ."
"Yep, she's a sentient artifact. She's dormant right now. You would need to power her up by giving her a good ol' fashion bukakke."
"You don't say? So how does the life drain part work anyway?"
"Oh, that's insidious! Sam outdid herself there. You see, it doesn't matter if the man cums on the doll directly, or if the semen is collected then wiped on the doll. It doesn't matter where the guy is in the universe. As soon as she converts the semen to magic, it drains the man . . . or animal . . . that the semen came from of their life force. It isn't immediately obvious either. The victim would just feel a little more drained than normal. It doesn't hurt, or even feel bad at all really. You just feel a little more tired. The average man would loose about five percent of their hit points with a normal load. The bigger the load the bigger the life drain; wimpy load, not much life drained. A few angry women actually figured out how this worked, and would collect the semen of a man they wanted gone . . . in the usual way. Then when they had enough they would poor all the semen on the doll all at once and the guy would just fall asleep and die quietly. More often than not, however, people were dying from guilty jerk session or sex with the dolls. It's much less effective on players, since we can see the actual numbers behind our current condition. We notice the drain . . . well most of us did."
"Wait, it's a sex doll?"
"Yes. It has all it's lady parts . . . apart from an actual reproductive system."
"Amazing."
"Well, this has been a welcome distraction. Anything else you need before I get back to trying to get you Privacy Mode?"
