“Well, I’m glad you’re feeling better!” You respond with a wise smile. “Well then, let’s go.” With those words, you lead the way out of the bathroom, holding the door as you look back with a more gentle and kind smile as you invite Billie to follow you. Billie, for her part, takes the cue in a daze as though she’s being pulled along by the wind and steps on out as though she is lost. Her eyes immediately lock back on to you though as you begin to lead again.

“Uhh… HEY… uhh… where are we going?” Billie asks, but she continues to follow you. For your part, you have already done a quick scan of the parking lot, not having found a sign of Trish or Charity’s heads poking above the cars, so you are now heading back to the baseball fields.

“Well,” you say, “I was going to take you home to my house for a while, but I don’t think my mom would be all that happy about it. So, until I can talk to her I was going to have a lady I met named Trish let us all stay at her house for a little while.” Billie seems to stumble to a stop at these words, her eyes reflecting a lot of turmoil in her mind.

“Wh… what about my daddy…?” She asks in a croaking voice as though she is about to start crying again. Well, it would probably have been complete fantasy land not to have seen this one coming. Now the question is how you are going to address it now that the issue has become all but unavoidable. The fact of the matter is, you've already got his face and badge number in a recording that also features him punching Billie in public. There are no conditions under which she will be spending even one more day living with her father. The only question is who she's going to be living with now, and how accepting of that she's going to be. If you have anything to say about it, it's you she's going to be living with and you'll do your best to help her understand... but what is the best approach though?

What will you do?

• Focus on the recent events and the law, he punched her so that's why she can't live with him
• Focus on his past abusive behavior and appeal that she'll have a better life (Request) --Tod Naturlich (talk)
• Focus on the fact that he drove away and abandoned her, stir up resentment
• Side-step the issue for now, say you'll worry about that later but for now you need to have some place for her to stay in the short term
