Spending a whole night with a little girl was a new experience for me. I had never had a live-in girlfriend; in fact, I had rarely spent a whole night with anyone.

When I slipped in beside her, I could tell that she was upset. "What happened," I asked.

She sniffed. "I dunno; I was asleep when Daddy got me out of bed. Mummy was throwing stuff in a case and Harry was getting dressed. All he said was that I was going to go back to England with you."

I put my arm out and she cuddled up with her head on my shoulder and her led on my belly.
