You open the door for Allorah and wait for her to get into the car, then get in the driver's side. You take the time to get your phone out and connect it to your car before you press the button to start it. Allorah grabs your phone and starts examining it, the curiosity evident on her face. When you start the car with a button press, she pauses playing on the phone and looks at you with her eyebrow raised.

"You didn't use a key to start the car?" she says.

You pull out your keys and point to your fob. "This piece here tells the car that I am the owner. Without it, the car will not start," you say. Then you take your phone. "This is called a smart phone." You open the phone so she can see the screen.

"It's a television too? In color?"

"No it's . . . kind of a phone mixed with a computer."

"What's a computer?" she asks, then looks at you car's display. "The car has a television too? The future is so amazing." You don't bother correcting her, simply opening YouTube Music and starting your playlist. Clash City Rockers starts blaring from your speakers before you turn it down to a more manageable level."

"Is this what they call music now," she asks with a frown on her face.

"In the 1970's," you say. "We can listen to whatever you like."

"Do you have the Chordettes?" she asks.

"As a matter of fact, Mister Sandman is on my playlist, but we can listen to more of their music than that. Hey Google," you say, waiting for the corresponding tone, "Play the Chordettes."

"Sure," says your Google Assistant in her Australian accent, "playing Chordettes on YouTube Music."

"This car has another imprisoned Jinni?" says Allorah with a frown. "No wonder you knew about us!"

"Google isn't a Jinni," you say, "it's . . . hard too explain. It's a computer thing. To really understand it, I would have to explain computers. It's called an artificial intelligence."

"You can make people in this time period?"

"No, and the intelligence part is . . . subjective. It doesn't really understand what you're saying, it just tries to interpret what it hears . . . often failing miserably."

"Tell me more," she says.

You explain bits and pieces about the changes to the world since the 1950's on the half hour drive to the nearest town with a Walmart. You pull into the parking lot, and find a good spot. You grab one of your jackets from the back and hand it to her.

"Here," you say, "you can wear this while we get some clothes for you . . . so you don't attract too much attention."

"Okay," she says, putting your jacket on and zipping it up. Getting out of the car you can't help but notice how cute she looks it the oversized garment. It's almost like a poofy dress on her were it not for the massively oversized sleeves. Her diaphanous silk pants showing from below the jacket also break the illusion, but you are glad for them as they indicate to onlookers that she does, in fact, have clothes on underneath.

You walk her through Walmart to the girl's section, then help her pick out some things to wear.

"Once we have you try on some of these clothes, we'll find your size . . . then we'll know which panties to get you." You see a store associate nearby eyeing you suspiciously. "Excuse me ma'am," you say to the older lady as confidently as you can. "Could we have you open a changing room? You see my ex had me pick up our daughter from her play without any luggage . . . or even a change of clothes for that matter; and I'm embarrassed to say that neither of us know her sizes. I would ask my ex, but she's halfway to Tuscon with her new wife." Giving the part of the country you live in and the age of your audience playing on her likely homophobia seemed a good choice . . . you just hope it's stronger than her racism given Allorah's skin tone.

"Oh you poor dear," she say, "let me help you out." Forty minutes latter you're loaded up with a bunch of clothes, and headed away from the girl's section. You stop by the men's section on the way, and get yourself a few changes of clothing as well. You check out, and as always it cost's a lot more than you were hoping it would. You have the money from all the overtime, but it still smarts as you use your card to pay. You take your wardrobes to the car and load them in.

Now you need to decide where Allorah should change.
