A short time later, the cute little Rachel Ross slips into your office as quiet as a mouse as Ms. Varano closes the door behind her. She immediately starts looking at the floor and looks so nervous she could wet herself.

"Come on in, Miss. Ross. Have a seat." You invite her in.

"Mmm..." Rachel grunts and nods as she keeps her head down while she scurries over to the chair and sits in it as though she just escaped from something and got caught somewhere she didn't want to be at the same time.

You watch the girl nervously grip the arm-rests of the chair as she presses herself back in it as though she is trying desperately to sink into the chair so it will hide her.

It is hard to tell whether her obvious fear is because she has something to be guilty about or if she is just scared of being sent into the disciplinary office. Guess you had better start questioning her then.

"So, Miss. Ross. Did Ms. Varano tell you what you were called here for?" You ask.

Rachel freezes for a second, and then she turns her chin from side to side, using small motions to indicate the negative.

"Alright, another question then. Do you know what this office is?" You asked.

She froze for a second, and then gave a single slow nod.

"Then, what is it?"

"Mmm... the... the office of discipline." She says in a small voice.

"Do you think you might be able to guess what you were called in here for?" You asked.

"Mmm... for a... punishment?" She said.

Interesting.

"Do you have something you feel you need to be punished for Miss. Ross?"

"Umm..." She looks back down and thinks.

"If you are honest, you might be able to lighten your punishment." You said.

"Mmm..." The look of concentration on her face got even harder. It really looks like she might be thinking pretty hard. "Umm... maybe... I didn't answer a teacher the way they wanted?" She said with a hopeful tone.

"That's not it." You said.

Rachel is starting to look very concerned as she sinks back into a state of thought.

"Do you remember anything about the bathroom last Friday?" You ask her.

She looks up at you with a blank face, and then looks back down in a state of thought again. "Umm..." She looks like she is putting a lot of effort into trying to remember something. It's not a look of shame or a look of horror. That's looking pretty good for her so far.

"Someone said they saw you taking a boy into the girl's bathroom." You told her.

"Huh?" Her head jerked up to look at you looking genuinely confused. "I didn't do that!" She said, looking you straight in the eye without a hint of the earlier hesitation.

Well, if she's acting then she's good enough to be in the best paid child actor on the planet.

How do you proceed from here then?
