"Let's go to the mall," you tell aunt Fiona.

She enthusiastically agrees and before long, pulls into the mall parking lot.

There are a good number of cars parked in the parking lot for such a small mall. You think maybe it's because the mall has air conditioning that there are so many people here. It has been unseasonably hot for a late October day, over 100°F. On entering the small mall, you see several groups of people milling about in the main hall. A group of teens laughed as they walked. An elderly couple walked slowly together. You even saw a group of young men without shirts on strolling through the mall. One had tousled, dirty blonde hair. His body was built like an athlete, he had bodybuilder-like muscles. The next guy had dark hair. He was short with a beer belly and even had man boobs. The last member of their group was tall and skinny and had glasses. You didn't think much of them after seeing them as your aunt took you around the mall to visit some small shops.

The first shop you visited sold toys and games. There were only a few unsupervised kids in the store looking at the selection of entertaining pastimes. You excitedly look at each toy or board game and barely notice that your aunt is talking to a middle aged man behind the counter, presumably the store owner if not just an employee. The next time you look she is no longer there, but you rationalize that she can't have gone far so you don't worry. You see a boy taking a board game up to the counter and the man haltingly addresses the boy, "Ah, uh, yes. Um, the... the that. That. Will be, oh! That will be 18 dollars. Sonny."

The boy hands him a bill and the middle-aged man gives him his change and receipt.

"You... have. Yourself a nice, daaaaaAYYYYYYYYYY," the man grunts. The boy gives him a weird look and wanders off with his new purchase.

After being inside an air conditioned building for so long without a shirt on, your once puffy nipples begin to harden. A slight chill runs down your back. At that moment, a girl with black wavy hair sidles up to you and greets you shyly, "Hi, I'm, my, I'm name is Elly. What are you looking at?"

You look down at the board game in your hand, and reply, "Oh, I'm just looking."

She persisted, "What's your name?"

"Jacky," you tell her.

"Jack," she reiterates, "Nice to meet you Jack." You don't bother to correct her. "Where you from? I haven't seen you around before."

"I'm just in town visiting my aunt and uncle. You know the Smiths?"

She gives a little laugh, "Silly, there's a lot of people with the name of Smith. Where do they live?"

"They live outside of town, near the lake. Close to the place called Pep Ridge I think."

She suddenly got quiet, "Oh. I'm not s'posed to go near them, but I like you." You give Elly a questioning look. "It's nothing bad," she assures you, "It's just my parents say they have a... well, different way of thinking if I clean up their words."

Just then your aunt Fiona appears. Elly looks like she's about to run, but your aunt gives her a friendly wave and tilts her head towards you, "Nithe, you're -aking hriends!"

You notice something in her hair, but she quickly moves her head away, "Just dust," she says.

"Are you OK aunt Fiona? You sound like you're drinking hot soup." Your aunt just giggles and pulls you away from Elly. She leads you towards:
