This actually can't be happening. This is my mother we're talking about, with our family dog, doing this kind of stuff… It doesn't even look like mother's particularly disgusted by it or anything… No, she's actually smiling…
Now that I think of it, I think I know who that man is… I don't know his name yet, but he's the owner of the house next door. Lives there with his wife and his daughter. Haven't talked to any of them yet, but seen him talk with both my parents.

That's actually the least important detail of him. He is what we call a "Joker".

We explained to you that us Star-Bearers wear the stars mostly in the name of Lauhatar, the lake goddess, and our relation to Kostikki is to appease him so he doesn't go out of control. Still got that, right?

We also explained that there are different ways to interpret the old legend . . . basically that there are also those that want to control us and make us wear the "suits", or the lewder marks, right?
Joker is what we would call who works on Kostikki's behalf and in his name to do just that. They're the wild-cards, the mountain god's own Star-Bearers. Chosen on his behalf to have power over us, and to punish us if deemed necessary.
They wear an eight-pointed black star.


That really sounds like something you should've told me before…

Now, let's see about this. It's a little bit more complicated to draw one, but maybe if I focus on just drawing lines first, then move on to filling them… I'm not capable of making it perfectly symmetrical, but this should be good enough…

Honestly, I had my doubts too about whether this stuff was real. Since it is, I have to start taking this stuff a bit more seriously…
What does this mean for us? These Jokers, I mean.


Like I said, Joker's main role is to corrupt the Star-Bearer. Traditionally, according to the rules, you can never refuse a Joker if they discover you wearing a star or a suit. Heart is still a safe suit, and they can't ignore color codes either.
They can still push the limits of the rules a little. Say, for example, you meet with one wearing a pink star and you get it on . . . you say you're only fine with vaginal sex and nothing else . . . he can totally stick a finger up your ass and get away with it even if you say "no". There's still some things they can't do if you don't consent, like if you don't want it in your butt he can't stick his dick in there, but they do have a list of things they are allowed to get away with no matter what. Kissing is always on the table for example, so if your first kiss is something you treasure, just keep that in mind.

I've done it with him a couple of times, and it wasn't THAT bad. We had a lot of fun the last time around for example. Wasn't the best or anything like that, but he made me climax, which is always a positive…

Still, they can't do anything to you if they don't know you're wearing a star, so just make sure not to be caught with one around him!

Here's another branching point for the story. In the first option, Laura will more or less figure out what we already know, that Emilia was spying on her. In the second option, this doesn't happen and she just keeps believing she was being paranoid. First option takes priority here, as I'm not really sure yet what'll happen in the second option.
