You decide to call for your Nanny, Miss Lancel.

She should be able to help you. She has raised you since you were a baby, and although she maintains some formality, you know she loves you as if you were her own daughter, as she has no children of her own. In many ways, she is the closest person to a mother you have ever know.

“Nanny,” you fall out, and then with more fear and desperation, “Nanny!”

You hear her footsteps on the stairs and coming into your room. As she approaches you feel tears welling up in your eyes and desperately want to ask her for help. Wait - this isn’t you wanting to cry out for help… This is the girl! You clamp down on her consciousness and exert control once more.

“Emily?” Miss Lancel asks as she hurries into your room, “what’s the matter? Is that your others wand?”

Your Nanny is clearly concerned and you quickly think up a lie.

“Yes…” you say, “I was… I was going through some of her things and…” it’s too hard not to cry now, but the tears serve your lie better than hiding them would.

“Oh Emily,” your Nanny says, giving you a hug and sitting down on the bed with you, “it’s ok. It’s ok, what’s made you get upset all of a sudden?”

“I had a bad dream,” you say, knowing that Emily does indeed suffer from nightmares on occasion, “about mum and dad…”

“It’s ok,” Nanny repeats, soothing you and stroking your arm, “you’re safe Emily, I won’t let anything happen to you. Is it that you’re worried about going to Hogwarts in a couple of weeks?”

You think about this for a moment. You are curious about the idea of returning to your old school in this vessel, and searching Emily’s memories you find that she is excited about the prospect.

“No,” you say truthfully, “well, maybe I’m a little nervous. I’ve never lived anywhere else apart from Lestrange Manor. It will be strange being away from you and Servus and the others.”

“You’ll be ok though,” she reassures you, “You’ll learn so much, and there will be lots of nice girls there to make friends with I’m sure, plus your cousin Draco will be there.”

Ugh, you think. Draco Malfoy.

Nanny stays with you a little longer and encourages you to get back into bed. You refuse to though, and sit by the fireplace which is burning down to glowing embers. Eventually she rents and leaves you to yourself.

You decide that you need actual help from someone useful to you.
