Attribute Ranges

  • Body: Pitiful to Above Average (1-6)
  • Mind: Pitiful to Average (1-5)
  • Spirit: Pitiful to Below Average (1-4)

Abilities

  • Troglodytes have no special abilities or weaknesses

Biology

Troglodytes are a now rare, quite ancient relative of humans.

Appearance

  • Height: Troglodytes tend to be between 5'2" and 5'10" tall. Men are generally taller than women.
  • Weight: Troglodytes have a similar weight as humans of their same height and build would have.
  • Build: Troglodytes generally come in two types of morphs: a narrow-chested, gracile morph like a modern human and a broad-chested, robust morph like a Neanderthal.
  • Bust: Troglodytes have a broad range of breast types. Most troglodytes have breasts ranging from AA-cup to DD-cup; with rare individuals reaching as large as H-cups.
  • Penis: Troglodytes have a broad range of penis sizes. Most fall between 3" and 9"; with rare individuals having penises as small as 1/2" on the low side and 13.5" on the high side.
  • Skin: Troglodytes have a broad range of skin tones, ranging from nearly white peach to dark umber brown. Troglodytes on average have darker skin tones than humans.
  • Hair: Troglodytes hair can be black, brown, or any variation between. Troglodytes with traces of other races in their bloodline may rarely display any hair color.
  • Eyes: Troglodytes eyes can be brown or gray. Troglodytes with traces of other races in their bloodline may rarely display any eye color.
  • Other details:

Genders

As human relatives, troglodytes are male or female only.

  • Pure troglodytes are only male or female.
  • Pure troglodytes can have transitional genitalia that is not quite male or female. These individuals are not truly hermaphrodites, just males and females with unusual genitalia.
  • Troglodytes can rarely exhibit futanari or neuter genders. This is always due to other races in their bloodline.

Reproduction

Troglodytes reproduce sexually.

  • Troglodytes can cross with any lesser, humanoid, or greater race. Generally they cross with humans best.
  • Purely troglodyte pregnancies last about 10 months (not 9 as is commonly believed).

Age

Troglodytes live just as long as humans do, when allowed to live to old age.

  • A troglodyte that is entering adolescence would be around 10-12 years old.
  • Troglodytes reach maturity at around 18 years old, and live about 80 years. Rare troglodytes can live into the 100's.
    • Most troglodytes rarely live to old age though due to their primitive lifestyle. The common age of death is 40-60's.

Diet

Troglodytes are omnivores, just like humans.

  • Troglodytes fare about the same as humans, although they do seem capable of eating certain kinds of meat raw, such as pork, with little ill effects.
  • While they can eat just about any food, troglodytes prefer meat wherever possible.

Other Considerations

Troglodytes have become quite rare with the expansion of other races, including modern humans. As such, they are mostly seen as cryptids or creatures of tall tales.

Spirituality

Worship

Unless raised in other societies, troglodytes worship the spirits of their ancestors, rather than deities or philosophies.

  • Most troglodytes that did worshiped human gods before the god war.
    • Many of those troglodytes still do, but don't know that the gods no longer exist.
  • Troglodytes may also worship natural spirits.

Afterlife

When a troglodyte dies, its soul follows its descendants.

  • It is unclear exactly how the relationship between a troglodyte and the soul of its ancestor works.
  • Troglodytes that follow a human god faithfully are taken to that deity's afterlife.
  • A troglodyte who does not follow their patron deity faithfully, regularly "sinning" against the deity, will find themselves in the hellish realm of Kras-Kel, to have their sins purged from their soul before they can enter their patron's realm. The period of purging is exorbitantly long; even a mildly sinful soul with spend tens of thousands of years in Kras-Kel.

Other Considerations

Troglodytes are not slow to accept change as hobbits are, but rather are slow to understand it. A troglodyte, given enough time, can integrate into society with little issue, not being necessarily stand out amongst a crowd from any other human.

Magic and Technology

Magic

Troglodytes are able to learn magic fairly well, but not as well as humans.

  • Pure troglodytes have no natural magics, and must learn what they use.
  • About 1% of the troglodyte population have traces of other races in their bloodlines enough to become sorcerers.
    • These troglodytes are worshiped almost as gods onto themselves.
  • Most troglodytes with an interest in magic learn shamanism, with a select few choosing to learn witchcraft.

Technology

Troglodytes are slow to understand technology.

  • Troglodytes use primitive technology, though even if they lack the knowledge to maintain such weapons over a long period of time, they have been known to scavenge metal weapons and tools.
  • While not to the same degree as humans, troglodytes do express creativity.

Culture

While they lack their more derived descendants' ambition, troglodytes are not a sterile species when it comes to culture.

Taboos

Troglodyte taboos vary widely by culture.

  • Troglodytes have no nudity taboo.
  • Troglodyte communities have varying degrees of incest taboo, though 1-step incest (parent-child, sibling-sibling) is uncommon.
  • Most Troglodyte communities have a taboo against bestiality.
  • Troglodtyes have generally have strong taboos against male homosexuality, while female homosexuality is not frowned upon.
  • Troglodyte communities have varying degrees of underage sex taboos. It is rare to find a troglodyte culture that allows sex with troglodyte children under the age 6 years old, and the most common age of consent is 8 years old.

Residence

Troglodytes generally live in communities of 1-4 dozen family groups.

  • Sedentary communities tend to live in caves, but there are plenty of nomadic troglodyte communities.
  • Troglodyte in an area may once and awhile gather together in big celebrations to exchange information, goods, and often individuals to keep healthy gene flow.

Other Considerations

Troglodytes are often seen by other races as little more than apes that happen to look like humans. Because of this, when they are encountered they are often treated poorly by other races, though if they are welcomed in, especially to human communities, they show that they can integrate fine. Part of this stigma though is due to how rare they are.
