Sally was panicking inside. She had run as fast as she could to the first hiding place that presented itself, but a serious problem with her choice became obvious the second she was behind the curtain: Behind the curtain meant in front of the window.

She had herself pressed against the glass, trying to disturb the curtain as little as possible, but if anyone were outside, they'd be able to see every inch of her body from the knees up, and there would be nothing she could do about it without blowing her cover in the classroom. There wasn't anyone out there, and she tried to reassure herself that nobody would be until school let out, but she didn't quite believe it.

And to make matters worse, her position was starting to get uncomfortable. She tried as hard as she could not to move, but it was tough. Her muscles were already sore, the glass felt hot on her bare skin, and whenever she saw a flicker of movement outside, it was hard to restrain herself from turning to see if it was someone coming... so far it never had been, but she didn't know how long her luck would last.

On the other side of the curtain, James was still staring dumbfounded at the scene of the accident when he heard children in the hall. He glanced back in the direction Sally had run. No sign of her. Good. Then he turned back to her shredded uniform. Right, that had to go. He ripped it off the nail, probably doing further damage, but it already looked like a lost cause. He quickly threw that under his desk and was on his way to right the fallen chair when the door opened. That was way to close.

"Everything OK? I heard a loud noise." It was Traci, one of his more assertive students.

"Nothing to worry about, just a knocked over chair. I was trying to tidy up a bit."

But he lied, he was absolutely worried, maybe more worried than he'd ever been in his life. He still didn't know where in the classroom Sally was hiding naked, and it was too late to look for her now that the rest of his students were arriving. He tried to think of a smart way out of this situation, but nothing came to him. They were already filing in, so all he could do was go ahead with class and hope she had hidden well.

"Alright, let's start on Chapter 6, the Civil War..." If he hadn't given the same lecture a dozen times before, there's no way he could have kept his composure at all. And as it was, he still wondered if his students couldn't notice a tremor in his voice. But still, this was one of the biggest events in American history, and he tried to deliver it with a little panache. Maybe that would cover how terrified he really was.

"Any questions?", he asked, as he usually did whenever he reached a good stopping point.

It was Traci again. "Mr. Vice, shouldn't we open the curtains like usual?"

He hadn't even thought about it, but they were still closed from when he'd shown a video in the morning. He was about to agree when realization struck... that was just about the only place someone could hide in the room. "No, don't!", he almost shouted.

"Wha– I just thought..."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to raise my voice, but the truth is I have uhh, migraines I think. I tried opening them earlier and the sunlight was killing me."

"Oh, OK."

Fortunately she seemed to accept this, and James resumed his lecture, while keeping an eye on the suspected hiding place. He didn't have to wait long. The curtain on the left moved, not much, but once he saw it, Sally's position was obvious. Though the curtains were fairly thick, pinpricks of light still made it through, except in one child-sized area. In a way he was relieved to know where she was, but if he had spotted her, so could someone else, and Sally always had trouble sitting still. He seriously doubted she could remain hidden for another hour.

He hated what he had to do, but he just couldn't be caught with a naked girl in his classroom. Especially after what already happened that morning. It would be the talk of the town, and even if he could explain the completely unbelievable circumstances that lead to her losing her clothes, every rumor about him would come back, and the town had a long memory.

He had to get Sally out of there, even at the risk of further embarrassing her. But how did he plan to do it?
