School Responsibilities

As the eighth grade teacher she’s in charge of the 13 and 14-year-olds. She is also the recess monitor for the middle-school students.

Biography

Willena is the oldest sibling in a very large family. Her father always believed women should be naked, pregnant and in the kitchen. Growing up, Willena had to help her mother take care of her brothers, and managed to continued attending school, the only place where she didn’t feel like a servant.

When Willena was 15 her mother died giving birth to her little sister (the first girl after Willena); her father’s misogynist ideas blamed women in general for his wife’s death, and he took his anger on Willena, taking her out of school and forcing her to take her mother’s place.

Willena ended up pregnant by her father at 16. By now her father spent almost all his free time drunk, and after a specially hard night, he suffered a stroke that left him not completely there. When Willena’s daughter was born, the town council decided that Carmine had been mad since the death of his wife, and Willena should not bear the fault. In the end, Willena’s mother managed to give birth to a child two years after being death.

With his father confined to a wheelchair, and having to change three sets of diapers, Willena resumed her studies and eventually managed to secure a teaching position.

The fact that her brother Freddy is now in her class gives her no end of trouble, as he’s used (like all his brothers) to always order Willena around the house, and he’s unwilling to accept her role as a teacher in school.
