As the third grade teacher she’s in charge of the 8 and 9-year-olds, both in the classroom and during the physical education class.
Biography
Beatriz was born in Mahogany Hills and attended St. Andre Truitt Academe until she was 15. She was a very good student that always tried to please her teachers and parents. From an early age she looked up to her older brother John, and always wanted to spend more time with him.
When she was 11 she followed John to a storage room after school and discovered her brother and some friends were smoking and looking at dirty magazines. Things finally broke down the day Brad accused Beatriz of sleeping around, hit her and threatened with divorce. Beatriz was bewildered by her husband’s unfounded accusations, but at the same time she couldn’t deny them, remembering how she had tricked him with his own brother’s daughters. For once the town’s rejection of any apparent social rupture worked for her. Event though she was already 19 and Brad was 20, the matter was settled by their parents. Brad joined the army, getting a hero’s goodbye from town, which left Beatriz in good standing with the community.
After the dust settled, and now that her daughters were 5, Beatriz decided to find a job, which fortunately was socially acceptable, now that Brad was away. The school’s headmaster offered her a teaching assistant position, and helped her finish her education to eventually become a full time teacher. In many respects, he became Beatriz’s protector and a second father to her. For a time Beatriz feared he expected sexual favors in return, but apparently he was really doing it out of kindness.
While Beatriz never left town, she did study as much as she could to become a better teacher; and in doing so, she found herself opposed to many of St. Andre Truitt Academe teaching practices. Unable to change the school rules, she decided not to enroll her daughters there, and instead home school them. Again to her surprise the headmaster was accommodating and gave no indication to oppose the idea.
When Beatriz turned 22 she was entrusted with the second grade children, and followed them to the third grade, where she decided to remain. She felt at that age she could do the most good for the students, and remain distant from most of the teaching practices she opposed.
She was really surprised when the headmaster called her and showed her the new Disciplinary Office guidelines. Even after hearing his explanation of why it was necessary, she couldn’t really accept it. It wasn’t until he asked her to take the job that she realized part of her had been day-dreaming about having her way with some of her students. She managed to refuse, trowing her brother’s name without thinking.
In the end things worked out. Her brother got the job just when he was having trouble and moved back to Mahogany Hills; and Beatriz decided to try and rekindle their old relationship, beginning with telling him he’s the father of her twin daughters.
