Disciplinary Action/Town Overview

Mahogany Hills is a tiny town out in the rural regions of the north-eastern US. It is around 50 miles from the next nearest town, but it is built in a convenient place for a certain shipping company to pick up supplies from the local factory which is the cornerstone of the town's industry. The factory is one which produces medicines and feed for agricultural needs and animal husbandry. Unknown to the towns folks, the hormones used in the animal feed have run off into the town's water supply. This is triggering an increase in fertility and sex drive in all the towns people, and also early puberty in girls.

Aside from that, the local businesses are mostly dependent industries designed to serve the needs of the town and factory workers. There are some restaurants, and a single corner shop which has groceries, clothing, and all the basic needs that the people of the town should need, although diversity of clothing options is a little limited. Second to the factory, the biggest employer in town is the local school. Farming used to be profitable, but the factory pays far better for less work. As such, farming has become completely obsolete as an industry in the town.

Morality has been a corner-stone of the town for a long time, but recently it has taken a reactionary turn for the extreme due to the advent of television and then the internet. They could not stop these "negative influences" from coming into the town, but they sure could moralize to each other about how corrupting some of the programming is. They used to be about at the same level of conservatism as a Mormon in regards to matters like sexuality and other related things. However, after the TV arrived on the scene, they had a big scare about children learning about sex earlier, and began closely regulating what their children were exposed to. Children of this generation had the notion of sex completely hidden from them as long as the adults could manage it, and were only told about it upon turning 16 for boys, or mothers would tell their daughters about it after they had become engaged.

In the current generation, things have become even more strict due to the reactionary nature of the towns people only getting worse with the internet, and in the past four years it has been even worse still due to the government coming down and insisting they have to teach about sex in school.

Breakdown on sexual awareness in town

Elder generation (age 60+)

Members of this generation learned about sex from watching the animals back in the day where the town still had a farming industry. It was during their generation that this industry died. It was also this generation that started on the hyper-morality of the evils of exposure to this sort of material as the television came in, thinking they were protecting their children by reducing talk about this subject.

Of those in this generation...

  • 0% have no knowledge of sex
  • 0% have any doubt as to whether or not sex is what makes babies
  • 20% know sex makes babies, but there is some other crucial gap in their sexual knowledge. (some overlap in the sub-categories)
    • 5% don't know mensturation signals a girl is ready to have babies
    • 5% don't know what the role of semen is, and think it's just sticking the penis in that causes pregnancy
    • 15% think God just causes a girl to become pregnant after sex happens
  • 75% know the same amount as the average person about sex
  • 5% know about genetic heritability and breeding from the days of raising animals.

Middle generation (40-60)

This was the first generation to begin experiencing this town's decline into beyond standard anti-sex messaging. They have developed a strong paranoia on the subject of how sex should or shouldn't be discussed with children, but for the most part they were educated enough to get by on the subject by their parents.

Of those in this generation...

  • 0% have no knowledge of sex
  • 3% have some doubt as to whether or not sex is what makes babies
  • 30% know sex makes babies, but there is some other crucial gap in their sexual knowledge. (some overlap in the sub-categories)
    • 7% don't know mensturation signals a girl is ready to have babies
    • 5% don't know what the role of semen is, and think it's just sticking the penis in that causes pregnancy
    • 15% think God just causes a girl to become pregnant after sex happens
  • 66% know the same amount as the average person about sex
  • 1% know some medical level knowledge about sex and reproduction.

Young adult generation (18-40)

This was the generation that was taught somewhat poorly by their parents in regards to sex, especially due to the increasing popularity of the internet in the 90s. but still know enough about it to realize what it is they are sheilding their children from finding out about. Most of them are aware of what sex is, the insertion of the penis into the vagina. However, most of what they heard is that it's immoral, and an alarmingly high rate of them do not realize the connection between sex and pregnancy.

This generation was somewhat traumatized on the subject of sex in terms of how it was taught to them by their parents, believing that sex is something so shameful and wicked that it can't even be discussed. It is such a taboo subject that it is really no wonder they all reacted so negatively to the sex-ed subject being forced on them by the government. This generation has raised their own children in an even more extreme puritanical way to the extent that they don't even accept the common wisdom that it is permissible for children under 4 to see each other's privates, even the privates of someone who is the same gender.

Of those in this generation...

  • 2% have no knowledge of sex
  • 10% have some doubt as to whether or not sex is what makes babies
  • 80% know sex makes babies, but there is some other crucial gap in their sexual knowledge. (some overlap in the sub-categories)
    • 75% don't know mensturation signals a girl is ready to have babies
    • 40% don't know what the role of semen is, and think it's just sticking the penis in that causes pregnancy
    • 39% think God just causes a girl to become pregnant after sex happens
  • 9% know the same amount as the average person about sex
  • 1% know some medical level knowledge about sex and reproduction.

Young generation

This generation is made up of students who were below the age they would be taught about sex by their parents at the time the sex-ed program was put into place. It is also further sub-divided according to age group/grade level. The sex-ed program was started in the 4th grade 4 years ago, so only those in the 5th through 8th grades have experienced the new program while those older than that have been in school during the absolute most paranoid and puritanical period in the town's history to the point where even the 16 year old boys who would normally learn about sex at that age from their fathers did not wind up hearing about it.

High-school age, 14-18 This group was in school still when the sex-ed program was implemented. Parents after this became even more extra-paranoid about the subject of sex, and at the same time seemed to figure that since they were learning it in school they no longer had to teach the kids themselves. Rather, the parents seemed to unanimously across the whole town begin a program of coordinated anti sexual education in which even more information on the subject was concealed from the children. This left this generation in a little bit of a dark-age gap where they heard even less in regards to the subject than the previous generations.

Of those in this age-group...

  • 10% have no knowledge of sex
    • 5% don't even know boys and girls have different parts
    • 5% know boys and girls have different parts, but can never imagine the idea of putting them together
  • 50% have heard sex is something wicked people do when they are naked with their privates, but have little concept of what it is.
  • 40% know what sex is, but don't know it makes babies
  • 9% know sex makes babies, but there is some other crucial gap in their sexual knowledge. (some overlap in the sub-categories)
    • 8% don't know mensturation signals a girl is ready to have babies
    • 7% don't know what the role of semen is, and think it's just sticking the penis in that causes pregnancy
    • 7% think God just causes a girl to become pregnant after sex happens
  • 1 person knows the same amount as the average person about sex (Luana Styles)
  • 2 people have actually experienced PIV sex (Julie McGreggor and Marlo Lefort)
  • 9 people have experienced oral or anal sex (Luana styles and her boyfriends / boys she granted favors to for her sister's protection.)

Middle-school age, 5th-8th grade/11-14 This is the age group that was exposed to the sex-ed class. Despite getting sex-ed though, they were not that well educated by the program, and if anything it managed to make them feel like they got their answers and become less curious, while getting some miss information along the way. The program was taught different each year, with less informative information being given every year. (As such, the usual breakdown format is not appropriate for this group. Instead, generalities will be given for each year.)

  • 8th graders: These are the students who were in the 4th grade during the 1st year sex-ed was taught. It was the most informative year on the subject. The students in the boy's class were actually told about coitus by Mrs. Carmichael, although it was more of a slip as she was pressured by all of the student's questions. She did not go into graphic detail, but they did hear enough that it involved being naked and privates touching. A few in this year also went on to learn more about the subject on their own. During the girl's only section, some girls asked about their mensturation since it had already started. They were told, as was the common message in the town at this time (and Mrs. Carmichael genuinely believes herself) that this has nothing to do with sex and is God's punishment to women for Eve tricking Adam into eating the forbidden fruit.

  • 7th graders: These students went through the second year of sex education, where information was somewhat more controlled. Mrs. Carmichael this year tried extra hard to push the message of how wicked sex was and that the children should have nothing to do with it unless they are married. However, some (especially boys) who found outside information on the subject actually had an opposite reaction and it actually desensitized them to the idea of negative messages on sex, causing them to experiment more.

  • 6th graders: These students went through the third year of the sex education program. By this point, Mrs. Carmichael had refined her approach somewhat, and the parents' paranoia on the subject had also hit a much higher level as well. The students this year learned the names of their own parts only, but they did manage to learn the parts of the other gender by talking to their classmates. They learned that a baby grows in the mother's belly, but not so much about how it gets there. This year, Mrs. Carmichael literally told them that god gives a woman a baby when she and her husband sleep in the same bed. As such, she made no connection to sex. Finally, she taught her sexual morality class on abstinence. This was a little difficult considering that she had not actually taught any of them what actual sex was, which is what she believed to be the reason her approach the previous year had back-fired as well as why so many parents got angry. However, she found a way around this by simply explaining that nudity, especially in front of others, and any showing or touching of the genital region was a vulgar act before god and a sin that would get them condemned to hell whether they were the one doing or receiving the touching, and if it was done against their will then they had to fight as hard as they possibly could to prevent it in order to avoid it tainting them and even then they might be tainted and become sinful. This managed to scare a few kids.

  • 5th graders: These students went through the fourth year of the sex education program. Despite the refined performance Mrs. Carmichael gave the previous year, parents were still angry, and some finally got around to having the dates sex-ed classes were going to be taught given out to the parents, so that way they could pull their children out when those days arrived. There were a couple parents who actually made good on this opportunity. She still gave a similar repeat performance of the new formula she had discovered, and managed to terrify a few more students in regards to anything having to do with exposure of their genital region.

Primary school age, 1st-4th grade/6-11 Note that the 4th graders in question for this section are described as they are at the beginning of the school year, before they have had any sex education.

This age-group has been raised by the traumatized generation of parents who do not even permit their child to even see the private parts of anyone other than themselves, and they are not even made aware of the fact that boy parts and girl parts are different. The parents cannot stop their children from talking to one another though, and this goes double for the families in which the mother works or there is no mother. For the most part, these children are as sexually ignorant as they come. They have been taught that it is sinful to be naked, and that is about the extent of the abuse prevention they have been taught.

Of this age group...

  • 99% have no knowledge of sex
    • 95% don't even know boys and girls have different parts
    • 4% know boys and girls have different parts, but can never imagine the idea of putting them together
  • 2 children know what sex is, but don't know it makes babies (The Moore twins, Amelie has seen her father's porn mags and Eveline has caught the babysitter sucking off a boy)
