Biography
Kara's family seems to have some level of resistance toward the female puberty-advancing hormones in the Mahogony Hills water supply, and as such she only started puberty and having her menstruations in the seventh grade. Still slightly early by global standards, but incredibly late by this town's standards.
Having taken sex ed in the first year it was taught, the girls' class Kara was a part of managed to actually hear a little more about the subject of mensturation than the years after her. As such, she knew a thing or two about it before it happened. She had heard about it before, and due to the messages about it being involved with god's punishment to women, she had thought maybe she was special somehow and incredibly pure and sinless. This was a matter of secret pride for her until it was all dashed the previous year.
At the time, this actually made her even more distressed even though she knew that it was normal for girls to bleed down there. She wondered over the summer just what she had done to loose "the good sinless status" she'd apparently enjoyed, and was devastated to loose it. She wonders if maybe it had something to do with her being on the cheerleading team, or perhaps enjoying it too much. She has since considered quitting the cheer team, but too many of her friends are on the team for her to go through with this.
Kara is fairly energetic and athletic. Due to her having reached puberty at the more globally standard time compared to the other girls, she is one of the physically strongest girls her age to the point she would be able to win in a fight against boys her own age if it ever came to that. While she is the sort to stand her ground while dealing with nonsense, she has also been brought up in this town where girls are taught to be submissive and demure. As such, she has avoided becoming overtly tom-boyish. However, the fact she has cut her hair short does get a lot of disapproving looks from others in town.
