House Malder

House Malder is an old house, and a strong one. Their business is war, and they are quite dedicated to it. Most of their assets are pooled in their grand army, and they are some of the loudest warhawks on the council. Their castle is the intimidating Blackmoor Citadel, perched on a hill overlooking the city of Mistrel. Mistrel is a bustling urban ecosystem, with a population of 9700 give or take, with a thriving slave market, and war driven industry. Iron and steel is taken from the nearby hills, and cattle from their fields to make weapons and armor.

Blackmoor is burned black with Dragonfire, having once been beset upon by a rebellious house who sought to cripple a major pillar of Imperial might. The Malder's held and crushed their enemy at the cost of many lives. Their sigil, once a black wolf was changed to that of a hellish burning hound in reverence and as a warning.

Culture

Life is war, and the members of House Malder and the inhabitants of Mistral are quite well equip for it. Men and women are viewed equally viable as soldiers, Men and women lovers often fighting in pairs. Everything in their society can and often is settled in a contest, usually of strength. Slaves are quite prevalent, and an accomplished warrior usually has more than one, along with some adoring hangers on. Slaves are often tormented for entertainment, and it is not uncommon to see them being disciplined in the streets. They tend to favor exotic slaves, rarely deigning to take one of their own kind. If you aren't arming men and women for war, or growing food, or some other essential task you're in the army. It's not a bad deal except for the fighting and dying. Looting is usually encouraged to supplement your income, fill your belly, and keep you entertained.

While not working or warring, the large and bronzed inhabitants of Mistrel tend to follow the Imperial style of dress. If the imperial style of dress can be called 'dress'. However they'll take practical precautions in war, wearing iron, leather and cloth as needed.

House Malder has two Vassal houses, House Ellern, and House Brax. Ellern is a craggy isle of little use to house Malder except for their boats. House Brax, located in verdant meadows, supply House Malder with favorable deals on food.

House Members

She's getting on in years and hasn't gone on campaign in a decade, but very few, even among the commoners are unaware that her hammer is not for show. She's bonded to the dragon Blackglass, a smaller but well trusted companion. She represents herself at Imperial meets, refusing to trust anyone else to do so properly.

Tryntar Malden: Commander of Malden's Expeditionary Leigon, bonded to the dragon Thresher. He's a fearsome warrior and oversees the command of 4000 troops. He wears his armor burnished black by dragon fire, and his imposing figure and scarred face inspires fear in his troops and the enemy alike. He also travels with a fair number of slaves, and a collection of war-hounds. Arinda Malden: A 14 year old girl who has already earned the command of an Imperial Leigon, and is a canidate to be Kalius's successor.

Camdar Malden: A 15 year old boy Imperial ship captain and candidate for Kalius's successor.
