EOTW/School/Climb over the Beam
You're not entirely convinced that this option is any safer, but at least there's no risk of getting stuck underneath it this way. Hesitantly you place both hands on top of the metal girder and push gently. When nothing gives, you take that as a sign to keep going. Bit by bit, you carefully apply more of your weight upon the beam until, eventually, you are able to live your last foot from the stable ground. Conscious that you can't even see what is actually supporting this stretch of platform, you struggle to move your weight around now you are on it.
It's difficult to move forward from the crouching position you're in; your arms twisted beneath your knees which, in themselves, seem locked into place by the rest of your pose, your only option is to stand. Just as cautiously as you had climbed onto the beam, you slowly attempt to rise to your feet. It isn't long, however, that your progress is halted as you realise you've been snagged by an exposed nail you hadn't seen before. Somehow it has twisted tight into your dusty, overwork t-shirt. You're not going anyway until you free yourself from this predicament first.
Do you
- Carefully try to slip out of your t-shirt; after all, wearing it continuously for a week has left it in a bit of a state anyway.
Or do you
- Try to remove the nail from your t-shirt; it's not like you've been travelling with a suitcase for the past week, you don't have any other clothes to change into!
