“What are you talking about?” You ask in an almost accusatory tone. What the hell kind of bullshit is this guy spouting? He can't possibly know what they are going to find, so that means he is just pulling shit out of his ass. You might be wrong, it was such a short thing he said that you might be misinterpreting his meaning, that's why you want to draw him out and have him say a bit more before you chew his head off for spouting that crap.

“It was no hallucination what you saw in the alley,” he continues, causing you to perk up immediately. “I get where you might think so after seeing something like that, but you have not got any brain lesions making you see things or something like that.”

Wait.... what? What the fuuuu...??? Your brain simply stops upon hearing the guy's words. How did he know? It is like he was right there with you when everything happened. Your cognitive wheels continue to spin while getting no traction as you try to figure out what to make of this situation, meanwhile he flashes you another smile as he lets out a breath and pulls himself up from his chair.

“Perhapse we should find somewhere better to talk about this,” he says, “I think the waiting rooms in the back here should serve us well, best we keep up appearances though, I'll have somebody come call us.”

At this, he looks over toward the entrance to the back and looks as though he is concentrating. Meanwhile, you are still going rapidly between thoughts on whether the gentle mannered guy sitting across from you is crazy or.... or... something! No, he knew things he shouldn't, he's not crazy, but then what!? Suddenly, you have another act of impossibility happen as the door opens and a woman comes out and calls your name along with a “Mr. Austin,” to witch the guy responds with a smile back at you as he gets up and walks over to you and pats you on the shoulder before walking to the woman who just called you and him.

Your brain is soup at this point, and your body seems to simply start moving regardless of whether or not you want it to, and you are following after this unnervingly mysterious and seemingly magical old man. You start to try getting a handle on yourself, trying desperately to explain what is going on in logical and reasonable terms. He has got to be messing with you somehow, and the staff here are in on it. That's it, the guy probably heard what you told the doctor somehow, and then he and the staff plotted together to screw with you. That explanation seems a little out-there, but it does make sense. In fact, it's the only thing that makes sense. You look up to the woman leading you and this 'Mr. Austin' around with a great deal of contempt, but you do not act on it. Somehow, it feels as though you can't act on it. Not in front of all the people in the halls here. Once they have you back in the exam room you can chew them out all you want.

She finds a room and then ushers the two of you in, and then you turn and try to say something as she is closing the door, but all you get out is a little grunt of “Aaah!” before the latch clicks shut leaving you and the old guy alone together.

A strange uncomfortable silence happens, and you are unable to do much more than wonder exactly why it is that you just did what the old guy told you to do. It was as though from the moment he had touched you on the shoulder your body was under his control and not yours, but now that you are back in this back room away from observers you feel as though a cloud is beginning to lift from your mind. You are still a bit dazed, but you feel more in control of yourself than you did before you stepped into this room.

“Well then, have a seat.” Mr. Austin tells you, “we've got a lot of rather heavy subjects to discuss.”
