“Ugh, my brain is just fried.” You say, hoping he will take up the rest of your meaning with his weird powers.

“Yeah, it really is a lot to take in.” He sympathizes. After looking for a moment, he gets a bit of a strange expression on his face and there is a bit of a pause. “At any rate, yes, I am picking up what you have on your mind now. Normally, I would be Ok with that, but because of your unique position I think I probably ought to inform you that what you are doing right now is considered rather rude where I'm from.”

“Huh?” You respond.

“I told you before, it takes a fair amount of effort cross-referencing between the emotions I am picking up off of you with things I have looked into about your past behavior. It takes a bit of effort to make an educated guess at what someone is thinking. I happen to be really good at it, but not all people with my ability are quite as skilled. As such, it is considered rude to stay silent and expect the other person to do all that work.”

Awe shit! So does that mean...?

“It's Ok though,” Mr. Austin says as he puts up a hand. “I understand you really are in a bad situation. You have been pushed to the point your mind has a hard time even forming a coherent thought into speech. I am alright with being the only one talking for a while. I just wanted you to know for future reference when you have gotten yourself together a little, if you ever encounter another person like me then it is considered rude to just be silent and expect them to take up the slack.”

“Ok,” you verbalize aloud, getting a satisfied look from Mr. Austin.

“Well then, I had probably better explain a little more about what I am here for.”

What is the most prominent thing on your mind?
