Life Hacks/Ask if you can do this later for everyone’s sake
“Actually,” you say, “if it’s alright, do you think we could do this later?”
“Well…” Officer Thompsett responds, “it really would be better if I could get your statement now while you can remember it better.”
“Oh, I’ve got an eidetic memory, that won’t be a problem,” you quickly respond. It’s true, with all 4 factors of your memory maxed out, you probably have an even better memory than most people who are said to have that sort of thing. But of course, officer Thompsett does not seem to be convinced. “Anyway, I’ll give you my phone number, we can set things up to talk later. Right now, I kind of want to get my sister home. She seems a little shaken up, hehe...” You add that last little laugh to relay the message to her that Roni is not the only one shaken up, but at the same time keep your sister from catching on. Judging by the look of sympathy on the police woman’s face, it seems your entire message made it through loud and clear.
“Well...” she muses, “we do have plenty of other witnesses, I think we ought to be Ok if I just get the statement from the lady who was sitting next to you and a few of the others who were nearby…. I would appreciate you getting back to me on that statement though.” After this, she walks up to you and pulls something out of a small pouch on her belt. It turns out to be a 3X5 business card, something witch all police officers carry on them. It has her name, her direct contact number, and the non-emergency contact number for the police station. “Here,” she says, “just give me a call once you have calmed down and we can set up an appointment.”
“Alright,” you say, easily shifting Roni’s amazingly light feeling body in your artificially strengthened arms around to your hip so that you can accept the card and stick it in your pocket. “Thanks.”
Well, in order to put truth to what you just told her, you start walking away from the baseball diamonds toward the playground you would have to cross before heading home. You smile warmly down at your sister as she gives a little moan and a warm hug to you witch almost seems to act as some sort of trigger that tells your brain it no longer has to be on high alert. Suddenly, you feel like all the stress of the weird things that have been happening today catch up with you all at once. You suddenly feel the bizare combination of exhausted but revved up that can only come from residual adrenaline still pumping through your system. On the one hand it feels good to have your body running at such a high performance level, but on the other hand it is kind of frustrating you can't just feel tired after having gone through some crazy shit.
Overall though, everything seems to have worked out pretty well for you. Your mind goes back to your last success in talking that police woman into letting you go. The interesting thing is what you read from her behaviors as to the actual reason WHY she ultimately agreed. It seems it perked her interest a little when you mentioned giving her your contact information and talking to her later. Is she showing an interest in you? This is sort of strange, having random women you just met look at you like that. Even more strange for it to be a police woman. This is going to take some time to digest. For now though….
What do you do right now?
- Go find a bench to unwind and talk with Roni
- Head for the bathrooms, you kind of need to go and it will give you a chance for some other things
- Head straight home
