Wondering what’s going on, you don’t even manage to get the menu closed before you reach for your phone and it’s left open in front of you. You look at the caller ID and you see that it’s your mom. Why would she be calling at a time like this? After staring at it in surprise for a little while, you decide to answer.
“Uhh… hello?”
“Xander? Hey, I need you to listen to me, something’s come up.” She says. Her tone sounds rather serious, and actually a little shaken up. What could cause this kind of tone in her?
“Ok,” You acknowledge what she just said, indicating she’s got full control of the conversation now.
“I need you to go over to the park! Right now! Run! Charity’s gotten into some kind of trouble with a police officer. I had him take the phone so that I could talk to him, and… I really don’t like the things that guy was saying. I’m going to try and call back and keep something bad from happening, but I need you over there right now!”
“Wh.. what?” You respond. You are a little shaken up by this, but you find you are already starting to move. You can tell your mother must have really heard something she didn’t like from the police officer to have told you to move this urgently, otherwise she would have likely just been telling you to go pick up Roni and that she would be handling the rest. “Ok! I’ll be right over there!”
“Thanks Xander.” She responds. “I’ve gotta go, I’ll try and keep him busy on the phone as long as I can.” And with that, she cuts off the call.
You put the phone into your pocket, a little stunned at what’s suddenly going on. Well, at any rate, you helping with whatever’s going on will probably downgrade her from furious to just mildly irritated when she finds out you had sex with Beth and got her pregnant. You’re quite sure it won’t be enough to make up for it, but at the least she won’t be as angry.
Now then, what should you do?
