Life Hacks/Get your lie on, "Oh but I am a player."
Well, if she isn't sure . . . maybe you should just play the part? Drawing on your new-found acting skills, you look at her for a moment, then let out a defeated sigh.
"Okay fine you caught me," you say, "I'm a player."
"Okaaay," she says, "then why didn't you just use Privacy Mode to use the mod, if you want to people to think you're a lifie? And why do you want people to think you're a lifie?"
Privacy Mode . . . damn there's a lot to this game that you don't know. This could be a more challenging acting job than you first thought it would be. Maybe you could push this back till later?
"Look, it's not that I don't want to answer your questions, but my 'sister'," you use air quotes as you say sister, "is going to be back any time now. Can we pick this up later?"
"Why does it matter that she'll be back soon? You have Life Controller, so why not dilate time?"
Time Dilation! You can't wait to get that module! "I don't have that module," you say, "I'm bare bones right now with just Lifie Mod."
"Okaaay," she says, "gimme a sec." She somehow pulls the familiar rubber duck from the pocket of her super-tight pants, where it absolutely could not have been. Giving it a squeeze, she proceeds to Life Controller then something called World Mod then slides Adjust Time Dilation to minimum. All around you everything seems to stop moving except yourselves. She puts away her duck then looks at you as you try to appear nonchalant. "I guess you are a player since you aren't affected. I'm PrettyPrincess1478, this avatar is Lisette."
Interesting. Whatever Loki did to you seems to make the game respond to you as if you were a player . . . at least somewhat. You try to focus on the conversation instead of the fact that she seems to have effectively stopped time. "XRayGod2020," you reply adding arbitrary numbers to one of your go-to usernames, "Xander."
"Okay Xander, so why in the heck are you posing as a lifie? Is that even allowed in the Life TOS? And why are you only packing Lifie Mod? And What hack are you using to look like a lifie? Where can I get it? What's the benefit of it?"
"Woah," you say with a chuckle, "slow down. One question at a time. Do you always talk that fast?"
She blushes a bit, "Sorry, I can get a little ramped-up when I'm excited and ramble. Let's start with, why pose as a lifie?"
"Well," you say, "I don't know if you'd understand this, but I'm not really into gaming with other people. I prefer playing on my own. This game is awesome though, so I couldn't pass it up. To minimize my contact with other player's I pose as a lifie."
"Ooooh," she says, "that explains why you're in a medium sized town. Not too many of the players who want to be around others like in the cities and not too many of the players that want to be with small groups like in the small towns. Most people don't even notice the medium sized towns unless they're just passing through. Smart."
If that is true, and you can think of no reason for her to lie, that might explain one of the reasons that Loki chose you. If medium sized populations aren't very popular with players, there would be less of a chance that you would be discovered. Even if giving game character's mods isn't currently against Life's TOS (which is likely since it seemed from your interaction with Loki that this hadn't been done before) there would probably be a big commotion from the discovery that it could be (and had been) done at all. Thank god you live in a medium population city.
"So," she asks, "why didn't you use Privacy Mode when you used the Life Controller?"
"That was a mistake," you say with a sigh, "I assumed I was alone, and didn't check first. I'll have to work on that apparently."
"No worries," she says with a laugh, "I forget stuff like that all the time. Where'd you get the hack." Hmm, where indeed. You can't indicate that it is available anywhere, soooo . . .
"I wrote it myself," you say casually, "it's still pretty buggy; so it isn't ready to be used regularly yet."
"I'm not sure I'd have much use for it anyway," she says with a broad smile. "I just like hacks. I'll take all of them I can get. So I saw you max your romance with your 'sister'; are you running a depravity play-through?" Depravity play-through. You find yourself wondering if that is a game mechanic or a play-style reference.
"Well, yeah . . . I like to mix it up."
"I did a depravity play-through when I first started playing, but I died before I learned about rewards and the Immortality perk. This one's just a casual play-through . . . but I did have sex with a dog yesterday; just for the points . . . well, the sex wasn't bad either I guess . . . but 150 points is 150 points." Seems more like she's talking about a play-style than a game mechanic when she's talking about play-throughs. "Are you gonna knock her up? Your sister, I mean?"
This was getting a little personal, making you a bit uncomfortable. Lisette might think you were just talking about a game, but this is reality for you. "Umm, probably."
"Yeah, I did a breeder play-through a while back. I still have the character, but I'm burned out on her. This avatar is one of the kids. I had some incest with one of my 'sisters' before I left . . . for the points, you know. Still, I haven't been pregnant with this avatar yet. Wanna knock me up?"
So do you wanna knock her up?
- Too risky, just get rid of her.
- Play along, you need more information.
- Only if she sticks around, you don't want her taking off with your kid.
- Why not, you need to loose your virginity somehow.
- No, You're saving your virginity for family.
- Hell No, This bitch is crazy.
