SW:CES:NC: Wookie Female
Wookiees are among the most recognizable and popular races in Star Wars, with Chewbacca being a favorite of many to this day. These large, hairy, ape-like mammals hail from the forested planet of Kashyyyk and have been a staple of Star Wars from the very beginning. Their defining traits are their appearance, unique vocalizations, and culture based heavily on honor and loyalty.
Wookiees are tall, standing 2.1 meters on average, and powerfully built creatures, with large back and calf muscles and dexterous hands, excellent for climbing trees. Wookiee fingers are tipped in curved, retractable claws for the exact same reason, which usually are hidden due to a flexor muscle. Wookiee eyes range from blue to brown, with some individuals having green, yellow, gold, or red, and their noses are incredibly sensitive. While they are omnivores, Wookiees, especially on Kashyyyk, generally prefer a diet of mostly meat, mixing it up with spices strong enough to damage a human stomach. Their hair is water-resistant and ranges from a variety of earthly colors that blend in with the trees. (It is for this reason the birth of an albino is a bad omen among Wookiees)
Wookiees are well known for their distinctive vocalizations: a complex mixture of roars, growls, barks, and moans. It is also notable that Wookiees don’t seem capable of speaking other languages but seem to be able to understand them fine: this is because Wookiees have a unique throat structure to them that doesn’t allow for making sounds characteristic of other languages. This is also how there are little, if any, non-Wookiee speakers but there are people who can understand the languages (yes, plural) of Wookiees and communicate with them easily.
Wookiees have a patriarchal society with complex lineages of nuclear families, clans, and inter clan alliances. It is not uncommon for the father to go off planet and for the mother to be entrusted almost entirely, along with the elders of the family, with the care of the pups. Wookiees are monogamous and marry for life. However, a Wookiee’s notion of family is based less on blood than one might except, which can be seen with the concept of the life debt: when a Wookiee's life was saved by someone else, regardless of the species, they would frequently devote themselves to a lifetime of service to their savior and their family. Wookiee cities are found in the canopies of Kashyyyk, with each city run by a chieftain. Those Chieftains, also referred to as Elders, occupied a high position at the local scale, and they were entitled to cancel the celebration of sacred holidays. At planetary level, the entire world was ruled over by a King coming from a patrician family and whose court was held at the Royal City: his job is to deal with the off-world nations and decide Kashyyyk’s stance in times of war.
So, how old are you Wookiee?
