The creatures known as lizard men by humans are not really a single species, as much as they are a collection of reptiles that share characteristics. Specifically, they are bipedal, walk upright, and are sapient, with cultures all their own, although most humans know little about it.
Lizard men live almost exclusively in warm places in the world, such as jungles, swamps, or deserts. Unlike most reptiles, they are not ectotherms (“cold blooded”) but are rather mesoderms, being somewhere in between ectothermy and endothermy (“warm blooded”). They tend to have large jaws full of sharp teeth and, while some are omnivorous, most are hypercarnivores. As reptiles, lizard men don’t have true penises and instead have a cloaca, which performs the same function. Lizard women also don’t have breasts, as even those that do give live birth don’t have mammaries to produce milk.
