By the time Emily gets home, you're stretched out on the couch, pretending to be asleep. "Everything alright," she asks.

"Of course. Ronnie is as good as gold," you say to her back as she goes in to check up on her daughter. By the time she comes out, you got your trainers on and you stand up as she hands you your money. She's kicked her own shoes off somewhere and as she stands in front of you, you realise that you're both about the same height. "I'd better be off then," you say, but she seems to be in no hurry to get out of your way.

It's a bit awkward, standing there in the middle of her sitting room, only a few inches apart, and you get this crazy idea that she is going to kiss you. It's probably only a few seconds before she gets out of your way and you escape. You hear her sliding the bolts on her front door as you make your way to the lift.
