You focus your powers and whisper to Eric.

"Ease up and at least speak to a girl. Marlene seems nice enough."

Eric's eyes lock onto Marlene, and the nerdette blushes. Eric guides her over to a bench and they sit down.

"I've noticed you paying attention to me," Eric says softly. "Marlene, is it? You're the really smart girl."

Marlene blushes violently. "Y-yes."

"Smart enough to get out of Pittsburg and go to college?" Eric asks softly.

Marlene smiles. "I'll be getting an academic scholarship to U.C.L.A. next fall, as long as I don't bomb this year."
