This summer was spent differently than the previous years. Tails had just hit puberty, when he started to gain an increased interest in the opposite sex. He didn't want to admit it to anyone, but nothing went on in Sally's domain without her knowing it. It was high time, she thought, that he'd finally act like a normal boy, kick up his heels and sow some oats. That was the normal thing to do this day and age.

Eggman was quickly becoming a distant memory, and all the infrastructure they sought to repair and create was all but finished at this point in time. Meanwhile, Sally spent the past several years steering the culture in a new direction, one that emphasized and glorified sex until it was a normal thing to see young cubs humping behind the park bushes. She brought Mobius back to its roots, to the way things should be. For everyone but Tails, that is.

He was a good kid, but the problem was he always had his mind on one project or another. While other boys his age were busy humping one another, he was working on engineering and adapting technologies, isolated in his workshop. Sally knew he was starting to develop those adolescent feelings, based on the stacks of porn he kept under his mattress and on his computer, but there were late bloomers and then there was him. He was a wallflower, and even though he tugged himself off at night, moaning Cream's name, he had yet to make a move on her or anyone else. She decided to step in before his youth slipped through his fingers and expose him to the world he had been missing.

That was the point of this vacation. Sally hauled him out to this island resort so he could explore his sexuality in a positively charged environment, more so than Knothole. One of the major differences was he couldn't hole himself up somewhere, away from the action. Come Hell or high water, he was not leaving this island a virgin.

"Why are we sharing a room?" Tails asked as they entered their hotel room together. The place was pristine like an ad photo, but it had tropical accents to it. The furniture was made out of bamboo, but whether or not it was authentic was questionable. Tails was inclined to believe the latter.

"Because rooms are expensive." Sally explained.

"But I'll be able to see all your... girl... parts."

"And? You saw them plenty of times when you were younger. You didn't have any problem then!"

"Yeah, but that was before I... noticed- it's just awkward now, okay?!" She giggled at his embarrassment. It was clear that he was attracted to her, but whether it was out of love or lust, she couldn't tell. His parents were casualties early on in Eggman's reign of terror, and she ended up as somewhere between a surrogate mother and an aunt to him. There was no blood between them, though, and now that he hit puberty, she was certain those feelings were starting to get muddled. He turned around to face her, but just as quickly turned back around. Sally threw off her vest and bike shorts and pulled out a purple bikini from her suitcase.

"Well? Are you going to get changed, or do you plan on going out in the hot sun in jeans and a hoodie?" she asked, tossing him a pair of shorts.

"Where are we going, anyways?" Tails asked as he removed his shirt. He got down to his pants when he hesitated and ducked behind the bed to finish. He was already at half wood and didn't want to expose himself to Sally.

"I thought we could grab some lunch. I didn't eat before we got on the plane this morning, and I'm starving! Knuckles told me about this cool barbeque hut down near the pier. I thought we could eat there before we take a walk around the island!"

Tails stood up after he put on an open button shirt and shorts. He waited for a moment behind the bed, making sure that his peen would stay down. Unfortunately, he couldn't repress it by force; that only egged it on even further. How advantageous it must be to be a woman.

"Alright. That sounds good." Tails said. "Probably a lot better than the bag of kettle corn I had on the plane." They left the room and went down the elevator to the lobby. There were about two dozen people, not counting the hotel staff, from the elevator to the front door. Tails scanned the crowd as they passed by.

"When did you say the others were getting here?" he asked.

"They should get here by... evening, I think." Sally explained. "If at all. Sonic said he had to finish something in Down Unda, Amy won't come if Sonic doesn't, Knuckles is showing up by boat, Shadow and Omega are party poopers, aaaaand... I think that's everyone."

"Wait, what about Vanilla and Cr-" Sally looked back at him, and Tails blushed heavily and looked away. "N-never mind!" He was still very embarrassed about revealing to anyone where his affections lay, even though he knew Sally knew. That's why, even though he had sex before, Sally still considered him a virgin. He was still very shy, especially around the target of his affections. That and he was drugged at the time.

The hotel rested at the top of a hill overlooking the beach. From the valet parking spot, they could see the shoreline below. The two made their way down the sidewinding road to the pier. Where it and the sand met, there was a cabana bar and grill and a light crowding of people. In the bright sunlight, they couldn't see into the kitchen, but they could see smoke rising from a vent in the roof, and as they neared it, they could hear the sizzling from the grill. To the left of the register was a potted plant with a yellow, beak-shaped flower. When they got close, the thing sprouted awake, catching both of them off guard.

"AH! CUSTOMERS! CUSTOMERS!" it squawked, flapping its leaves wildly. "MOUTHS TO FEED! FOOD TO MAKE! DENY CREDIT CARDS AND VEGETARIANS! HIDE THE LETTUCE!"

"Shut it, I heard you the first time." a voice said from inside the kitchen. A black and white badger wearing an apron stepped up to the counter, illuminated by the sunlight bleeding through the straw roof. "Ah, Your Majesty! I didn't expect to see you here."

"We're just on vacation and would like something to eat." Sally explained.

"Certainly! What can I can get for you and your friend?"

"I'll have the seafood pasta, please." she answered, pulling out her purse and placing several rings on the counter. "And what about you, Tails?" Tails was spaced out and staring at the strange plant thing on the counter. He never saw anything like it before. Was it an alien?

"Tails?" Sally nudged him.

"OH! Oh, umm..." Tails looked at the menu roster next to the strange plant. "The pineapple burger sounds good. I'll have that."

"Coming right up!" as he said that, the badger tossed a pineapple into the air with one hand, a cleaver in the other. He froze in place as it fell past the knife and onto the cutting board behind the counter. It landed on its stem, appearing to be in one piece, but he then tapped it on its side and it collapsed to the side in ten even slices. Tails and Sally turned around to go sit down at a table. As they did so, they saw Vanilla and Cream approaching from the same path they came from.

"I knew I saw you guys!" Cream exclaimed, running up to them. "It's been so long since we saw either of you!" She gave Sally a tight hug, then Tails, who froze up like a statue. She was wearing a bikini like Sally and Vanilla, and much like Sally and Vanilla, it was hiding away a pair of pretty sizable breasts. She was nowhere near comparable to them, of course, but she was surprisingly well developed for a girl of fourteen. Tails tried to think of anything else, in fear of sporting a massive cartoon boner in front of her, Sally, Vanilla and the strange alien plant.

"We just got here for lunch." Sally said to Vanilla. "You can join us if you'd like."

"What a coincidence, we were coming down here for exactly that!" Vanilla explained. "What would you like, Cream?" Cream took a brief look at the menu.

"I'll go with the pork lo mein!" she said cheerfully, sitting down next to Tails.

"Pork lo mein it is!" the badger's voice echoed from inside the cabana.

"So what have you been up to, lately?" Cream asked. "It's been like two years since we last saw each other, right?"

"About that time, yeah." Tails replied, though that was only half true.

"I heard you got into the modelling business." Sally chimed in. "How has that been?"

"Brutal! Strict exercise and diet regimens, long hours and sitting in various uncomfortable positions in sometimes equally uncomfortable clothes! But it's so much fun and it pays very well!"

Tails nodded in silence. She was leaving out half of the story. The same modelling company had an "after hours" segment of their shoot where the model stripped down and presented herself in many compromising and unflattering positions. Tails had every issue of their after hours series specifically because Cream was one of the models. Despite the delicate wallflower she was when she was younger, every last ounce of audacity was on display in every photo where she spread apart either her pussy, asshole, or violated one or both holes with various objects.

This didn't make him respect her any less, though. In fact, she seemed to be even more unattainable now, being a popular model who did porn shoots on the side. It was every guys' fantasy come to life, and like every fantasy, it was something he didn't think he had an icecube's chance in Hell with. He was a huge computer geek; what would she see in him?

"I do have enough saved up for college at this point, though!" Cream continued. "I plan to go to culinary school once I'm eighteen!"

"Eighteen is pretty far away." Sally said. "You might change your mind by then."

"I don't know. I've had my mind set on it for a while now."

"Well, whatever you decide," Tails said. "We'll back you up one hundred percent."

"Aww! Thanks, Tails!" Cream wrapped her arm around his side and pulled him in close for a quick side hug. Their food eventually came, and the table fell silent save for the sounds of forks scraping against plates and chewing. Tails found the pineapple burger was an interesting combination of flavors. It was sweet and tangy like a pineapple should be, but the process of grilling it changed the flavor to something entirely different. Halfway through, though, his self-consciousness began to kick in again, and he wished that he picked a dish that you ate with a fork. Handling the burger was messy business and he burned through two napkins already cleaning his hands. He didn't want to accidentally get any on himself in front of his crush and look like a slob.

No, he was getting too self conscious. He had to curb those thoughts, so he started naming the periodic elements in order. Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium, Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen...

Tails managed to hold himself together until after he was done. After disposing of the paper plate and spent napkins, he scurried off to the bathroom to wash his hands, but no amount of scrubbing would remove the smell from his hands. Hopefully Cream would have no reason to smell his hands. Tails left the bathroom and returned to the group.

"Say, Tails, would you like to go for a walk on the beach?" Cream asked.

"Uhm, uh... sure?" he replied.

"That sounds like a great idea!" Sally exclaimed, clapping her hands together. "You two kids go have fun! There's a lot of catching up you have to do!"

"We'll be either looking around some shops in town or back at the hotel." Vanilla explained. "I have my cell with me, if you need to give us a call."

"Okay! Come on, Tails!" Cream grabbed his hand and pulled him off to the beach. Once they put a bit of distance between them and the adults, she said, "So you didn't get around to telling me what you've been up to lately!"

"Not much, honestly." Tails explained. "My latest project was completing the antimatter reactor in Mobotropolis. Remember when Eggman blew up the moon with the Eclipse Cannon?"

"Yeah. God, that was scary!"

"Well, a few years ago, Omega was up there looking for... something, when he came across this strange element deposit in the moon's core that doesn't exist on Mobius. We've taken to calling it Elerium-115."

"And that's antimatter?" Cream asked.

"No, because if it was, coming into contact with the matter that surrounded it would cause both it and the matter to annihilate in an explosion of energy long ago. It's a radioactive element like Plutonium or Uranium, undergoing alpha radioactive decay, which creates helium atoms. That alone is not really special, but we found out that, when we bombard the element with a negative electrical current, the alpha decay generates antihelium; antimatter!"

"Awesome! And what does that mean?"

"It basically means that we have almost no worries about energy anymore! One kilogram of the stuff can supply all of Mobotropolis' energy needs for the next fifty years! We estimate that the entire deposit should be able to last the entire planet's energy needs for over two hundred years!" Tails caught himself and he shook his head. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling. I must sound like a huge nerd."

"No no, I kind of enjoy it! Makes you sound very smart, and I think that's cool! I wish I could understand all these things about radiation and antimatter!" Tails turned away to hide his blush. It was kind of weird to think that Cream admired him in that way! He thought of himself as being on the fringes of society, even though he effectively solved all the energy problems of the planet for generations to come. Cream, by comparison, was in she in crowd. She was the popular girl, the girl next door, the unobtainable; the kind of girl that the laws of physics themselves were designed around so that they could never be together.

"So do you have a girlfriend?" Cream asked, taking a seat on the hot sand, facing the water. Tails hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to answer it.

"I... I-mpph..." he stammered.

"Come on! It's not a difficult question, Mr. Antimatter!" Cream giggled. "Do you have a girlfriend?"

"I-no. No, I don't." he finally answered.

"Aww, shame. You're perfect boyfriend material."

"What about you? Any boyfriends in your life?" Tails sat down next to her.

"Well... yes and no. I was going out with this one guy, but then he said something very unflattering and mean about Marine! I got rid of him immediately after that! Then I met a cute guy, also a model with the agency. Didn't get too far with him before I realized that he was a total meathead. And then there was dragon boy. Misogynistic asshole! He just wanted to get into my pants and thought I was a stuck up prude because I wouldn't give it to him right away!"

"At least you've had boyfriends." Tails said. "I can't even get the courage to approach a girl like that, much less ask her out."

"It's not difficult! You just gotta put on an air of confidence and let her feel like she's special! But don't be too confident to the point of arrogance! Don't be dragon boy!" Tails glanced over at her. She appeared to be in thought. It was a bit weird listening to her giving him sage advice. Years ago she was the shy one, and now she was teaching him not to be shy. She matured a lot since then; Tails knew she did, in many ways, based on her photo shoots.

"Come on, I know a great place to hang out around here!" Cream said, grabbing Tails by the hand again. "Lots of hot girls and dancing to boot!"

"But I can't dance, Cream!" Tails insisted as Cream pulled him by his hand. They walked several miles down the beach to a party being held in the middle of a circle of cars and vans. Rock music was playing from one of the vans, loud enough that they were able to hear it a quarter of a mile away. Several dozen people were paired off into smaller groups, either chatting or dancing to the music.

"Neither can most of the people here! Just wiggle your hips and shake your hands like this!" Cream jostled her hips back and forth while shaking her forearms around as she stepped into the crowd. Tails followed her lead, even though he felt like a putz the whole time. Nobody paid much mind to their arrival, which was a good thing. Tails didn't want to make a loud entrance into the group. Cream danced her way up to a group of girls dancing next to a black van with flame decals on the side and hood. The back was open, exposing the enormous speakers that were belching out the music. It was loud, but they didn't need to shout at the top of their lungs in order to hear each other, and it was relatively quiet on the side of the van.

"Hey, there!" Cream called to them. "Awesome music you're playin' there!" They turned to face her. They were both wearing swimsuits. The first was a black and white cat with green eyes wearing a black bikini, and the other was a red robin wearing a blue one piece with a yellow sash around her waist.

"Thanks. I've never seen you here before!" she said in a thick eastern accent.

"My friend and I are here on vacation!" Cream gestured to Tails. "My name's Cream, and my friend here is Tails!"

"You look familiar." the robin said. "Do I know you from somewhere?"

"Probably not. My friend Tails here, though, is the head engineer of Mobotropolis! He designed the energy reactor there!"

"That runt?" the Cat exclaimed, looking skeptically at Tails. "Get real, you're bullshitting us!"

"No, I'm serious! He also made some awesome planes!"

"Alright, then. Show me your awesome planes." she demanded.

"I didn't bring any of them with me." Tails replied. "I came here by commercial airline!"

"Ah, see? I knew you were bullshitting us! Come on, Claire. Let's get outta here!" Both the cat and robin pushed their way past Cream and Tails and went over to the other side of the circle, leaving Tails speechless and looking dejected.

"Well screw them!" Cream exclaimed. "Come on, Tails. I'm sure there's a girl here who might be interested in a mechanic boy!" They moved on to the car next to the music van. It was a bright red two door muscle car with its oversized engine exposed through the hood. Leaning on the hood was an older lioness. She appeared to be in her late teens, possibly early twenties at the oldest. She appeared to be pretty well built, with small, but very defined muscles and abs that looked to be chiseled from granite. Her swimsuit was very revealing, and the strings that held it together pulled taut against her body, threatening to snap like a banjo string.

"Hey there!" Cream called to the lioness as they approached her. "Is this your car?"

"It sure is. Built it myself from scratch!" she explained.

"My god, how many cylinders is that?!" Tails exclaimed upon seeing the car.

"Twelve, but it's a broad arrow configuration! This sucker will coil up the road behind it and throw rocks a mile!" She let out a hearty laugh. "Don't worry, as long as you know how to handle it, it's perfectly safe!"

"You race cars?" Tails asked.

"Yup! There's a nice bit of track going all around the island; 41.8 kilometers! There is so little traffic around here, we can tear some serious ass on Saturdays!"

"It's a ridiculously oversized engine for a car so small." Tails pointed out. "How do you stop it from just jumping out the hood?"

Cream watched on as they engaged in an energized conversation about cars and mechanics. It seemed like they were hitting off rather well, so her job was done. She slinked away from the circle of cars back in the general direction of the hotel.

"Hey, it looks like your girlfriend's walking away." the lioness pointed out.

"She not my... girl. Friend." Tails hesitantly replied. "She's just a friend."

"Wait a minute... I recognize her! She's that model from White Rabbit Magazine!" She hopped off the car and chased after Cream. She wasn't even at full sprint and managed to close the distance of over a hundred feet in just a few seconds.

"Excuse me, I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan of your work!" she exclaimed to Cream. "My friends and I have all your issues, including the after hours series!"

Tails watched on, now, as the lioness gushed over Cream, eventually introducing her to the rest of the crowd around the circle, including the cat and robin from earlier. He didn't know what to do or say, but it was pretty evident that his conversation with the lioness - along with any chances of them getting together - was over. Frustrated, he stormed away from the crowd in the general direction of the hotel, though he didn't feel like returning to his room. Instead, he headed back towards the pier. He passed by the cabana bar and headed out onto the pier, where a small fleet's worth of boats were moored. As much as he liked to admire boats, though, even they were not going to help cheer him up. Not this time.
