Talk:Dirty Talk/Three Brats/June 7th, 2020/When Stella met Heidi
I'm pretty much done with the Emilia+Stella stuff for the next page, but not quite there yet with Heidi's shenanigans. Not much I would change here, to be honest, but the timeline is maybe a little sketchy since this time of the year is the start of the summer vacation, and she would still be in and out of the village - on and off - for the next two months or so until the school begins in August. Like, it makes sense for Stella to discover the game early and keep on learning throughout the summer, yes, but it's also kind of hard for me to imagine that Heidi and Stella wouldn't come across each other again through the rest of the summer. We could explain it all by Stella avoiding Heidi on purpose, which would be what I'd probably go with at this point.
Still, all that being said, there should be no conflict, especially if Stella's "skeleton in the closet" moment comes later that summer. -- Innocent Ruin (talk) 23:09, 11 October 2022 (CEST)
i love it my only concern is how she finds out about the marks she just went to the gift shop and granny told her im pretty sure this part is strange like is missing more context (unless im the one missing context and granny will openly speaks about the game) because rule 1 of this game is not talk about it im pretty sure no one will just tell her about it like that. i think she should see someone doing it on the way to the gift shop she sees a kid and adult or 2 kids doing it and then she gets curious about it and maybe overhear granny talking about it and then she gets the pamphlet and all that stuff. (im not saying to write all of this it can be vague like the it is already BUT i do feel maybe to put something indicating that she saw it before talking to granny and that she ask granny about it) --Xephion (talk) 06:29, 12 October 2022 (CEST)
Not a bad idea for Stella to see some chick (Venla?) getting railed when she enters the village, but since it isn't explicitly explained, I'd say just assume it all happened by the book. Rules in this context can be as strict or lenient as the story needs them to be, which on this page leans to the side of lenience. Sanni's gift shop could have some open clues about the secret as well which would've made Stella curious. Or maybe Lauhatar whispered to Sanni's ear, "psst, you should tell her, this girl's heart is troubled and in need of some love". It is Sanni's job to safely educate youngsters and keep the "tradition" going after all. -- Innocent Ruin (talk) 09:11, 12 October 2022 (CEST)
This is what I was thinking. If Sanni helped "revitalize" the old traditions (going so far as to have pamphlets made) this gossipy old lady yearning for her younger years has to be living vicariously through the next generation. If a young girl wandered into her store all alone I imagine she'd chase other customers out of her store just so she could feel out whether the girl should be told. When it comes to the supernatural nature of these myths, I also really like the alternative "natural" perspective that would just have Sanni getting her rocks off to the "open secret" style gossip surrounding all manner of young girls getting caught being railed all over the village, with her being the underlying driving force behind it all. But because there are so many possibilities, I thought it was best not to reveal any specifics regarding how Stella came to be told. Could've spotted a mark on someone that she brought up in conversation and Sanni thought she knew more than she did and started rambling, but like IR I also considered that Sanni would recognize that Stella could benefit from a heart and kept their conversation to that one "local custom" about how to find a boy/girlfriend to help Stella without fixating on all of the other details.
As for the timeline, I assumed Stella wouldn't want to go back to the village after. She loves Heidi for what they shared and giving her the confidence to explore her feelings, but hates her for the apparent betrayal. The love-hate Stella felt could have easily driven her imagination for months, pondering all the things that could have been, alongside dreaming about a revenge that would never be. That could have driven her a little bit crazy, and you could easily lean into a "supervillian" side to Stella wherein she's a little unhinged and would do a lot more than one otherwise would to either get what she originally wanted or get her revenge. But that's why this is a flavor post. I left a lot open on purpose so that it doesn't impact story options but helps flesh out her motivation. I just loved the idea of Stella looking for love and finding a lot more! --Villenia (talk) 11:08, 12 October 2022 (CEST)
I guess that makes sense too since granny do talk with the Lauhatar yeah i can see that as possible too Stella did look like she needed guidance she was so lonely and it would make sense in story, i mean after all hoping for a secret to be spread by luck or coincidence is wishful thinking so i can see her telling specific people about it. --Xephion (talk) 11:19, 12 October 2022 (CEST)
The comment about Lauhatar talking was more tongue-in-cheek, although if I were to lean into the supernatural side more, she would definitely be a giant blabbermouth, conspiring with Sanni into getting little girls and boys into learning about sex WAY too early! 😂
You're right about Stella definitely not wanting to go back, so she could still hole up at the family compound for the next few weeks, only getting her courage back after getting a pep-talk from Freja or something. It wouldn't make sense for a ten-year-old to go home and stay there entirely, not while the rest of the family is still on vacation over an hour's drive away. Stella would still be a little hurt and resentful and try to avoid Heidi even if Freja told her to forgive Heidi. But that's probably the last I'll say on this subject. This "flashback" is excellent in the end, and no tweaks will be needed. It adds more complexity to her personality, which I welcome. -- Innocent Ruin (talk) 12:20, 12 October 2022 (CEST)
