I personally don't see it as her being groomed, and meant it more as something her young and lonely heart was looking for, a fun thing she needed in her life. Then again, if something like this was happening in real world, it would've been grooming without a doubt... So maybe her back story can be read in different ways. It can be either be seen as something that ruined her forever and robbed her of having a normal childhood, or something that saved her from a lifetime of depression.
