Julius wants to visit the town alone, but he wasn't sure how. The few times he begged to go alone or with Guards, his Father gave him a big stern no due to his age. He remembers how his Father went on and on about the possibilities of strangers talking to him, Guards not being what they are and even being kidnapped just for being alone, but that didn't scare the boy.
There was only one way out of the castle that he knew of. The Gates. Maybe he could try and wait until someone opens them? Maybe ask a Guard to joins him...? Maybe say his Father allowed him today? He quickly dressed himself up, gathered most of his spare money and made way outside.
