Regular parents will be helpful and supportive and always there for their children, but will still respect their privacy. This is meant to represent most of normal society, although speaking realistically there were quite a few helecopter parents dating back to the 1990s so it may be the case that the real normal actually lays somewhere between here and helecopter parents. At any rate, a child with parents like this will be far more likely to express independence in a healthy manner rather than going to either of the extremes. (Of course, the extremes are still possible with poorly adjusted children.)
