Much as you enjoy watching them run around naked, they need clothes. You send a message to Jake, who has a mobile shop and ask him to call. Jake's shop is quite something. He started with a van and dealt mainly in food - buying from anyone with something to spare, and selling it for a small profit to those who were short.

Now, he has what was once a refrigerated articulated lorry and stocks a huge range of goods, from soap to horse tack, as well as groceries. Communication is via satellite, when it's in range and, like you, he has a big dish on his roof. His truck can't make it down your lane, so you get the quad bike out.

Josh and Sam, now reasonably respectable in Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix T-shirts, climb on, with a case of beer and some of the frozen venison, and you set off, driving a little more carefully than normal. When Jake arrives, you all climb the ladder into the Aladdin's cave that is his store. Jake is not only a shopkeeper, he is leader of my pack, so we have a lot to talk about. You both watch the kids as they, with their usual lack of inhibition, try on clothes. They both get shorts and T-shirts, but Sam also gets a pretty dress which earns you and Jake a kiss.
