Biography
Despite being only 8 years old and in the 3rd grade, Katherine has gone fully through puberty, has developed breasts, and has begun menstruating.
None of Katherine's other friends her same age are dealing with these things, and this has lead to her feeling very out of place among her friends. Instead, she has made up two imaginary friends, Emma and Jean. This has, in turn, resulted in her being seen as weird by the other kids.
Katherine was born in the orphanage and this has combined with her social alienation to lead to her having some overblown ideas about how normal kids live, and how good life must be. Along with the moral values they are taught in the orphanage, this occasionally results in her having some rather unrealistic ideas about how the world should be, thinking her ideas are in alignment with how things already are even though they are fairly idealistic.
Overall, she is a really good kid who only wants everyone to be happy, but she has a hard time actually getting along in the orphanage environment she was born into.
