• Details: Esteban is the last remaining ancestor of the witch-hunters who executed Maria Cortez; the witch who cast the curse upon Tabba Valley. For centuries, his family was tasked with guarding the members of Cortez' bloodline, to keep them from dying. However, as the age of superstition was eventually replaced by the age of reason; whereupon higher officials decided that guarding people against their own will was inhumane. The de Santas were forbidden from being near the remaining Cortez descendants, who then died to activate Maria's curse. Esteban, though trained in the arts of witch hunting and exorcism since birth, has since then taken a job as a janitor at an inner-city primary school.
